Transformers Armada UNICRON 15" Action Figure with DEAD END Mini-Con (2003 Hasbro) Review

This was my first Transformers toy. But from what I've seen, it's pretty cool! Unicron looks great in robot mode, but a little unusual in planet mode. It's not a big deal, unless you go nuts at the sight of an object that isin't round, but is supposed to look like a planet! I'm not a Transformers collecter, but I have to say this is pretty cool! If you buy this for a little kid though, Make sure they don't make any "rude gestures" with the hands. One of the best things about it is that it does NOT have many small pieces to lose. Although it costs alot,(and takes FOREVER to unpack), it's worth the money! Plus All the kids on my block love it! So, to rap it up Unicron is a great toy!

Very nice, fun detailed Transformer, but it broke as I was installing the pieces onto it.
The waist part was incredibly loose, kept detaching itself from the torso. There was no way for the figure to stand up straight. And one point trying to transform it the stomach joint just broke. it still holds into place, but now it's even more loose than it was before... and it was pretty loose already.
Otherwise it's a great toy, the robot is nice, the transformation is very complex, the car mode looks incredible.

*****NOTE - Contrary to the newsletter, this item's core is not die-cast.We apologise for the confusion. These vehicles can be taken apart and be attached as armor onto the Protoform figure that is included to make it resemble the character's robot form from the movie. Having arrived on Earth prior to his fellow Autobots, the loyal scout Bumblebee attained his Earth vehicle mode early on. Once Bumblebee had confirmed the presence of the Allspark on Earth, he signaled the other Autobots. Forming a bond of friendship with Sam, Bumblebee retained his weathered Camaro mode until Mikaela referenced the mode as a piece of crap, at which point a slightly disgruntled Bumblebee scanned and reconfigured into an updated version.

Transformers Movie RoboVision Optimus Prime Review

Transformers Movie RoboVision Optimus Prime
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Currently, there are two versions of Optimus Prime available: The Voyager class, and Leader class. The "Robovision Optimus Prime" happens to be a metallic repaint of the voyager class figure, and was sold exclusively at Target for $19.99. In robot mode, Robivison Prime stands at 8 inches in height, as compared to the 12 inch Leader figure.
But, size is not the only thing separating these figures, as transformations are completely different. For Leader prime, the front grill in truck mode, converts to the bottom parts of the robot's feet. The robot feet in Robovison Prime, are tucked away behind the truck's cab. Also, the smoke stacks in Robovision can convert into laser rifles - a feature that isn't available in the Leader class.
As for design, I would say that the Robovision Prime seems more accurate of a representation to the movie character, in robot mode. Much of the bulk in the leader class version, has been trimmed down in Robovision Prime, producing a more streamlined figure. Also, Robovision prime has light piping in the eyes. Just place the figure below any strong light source (a bulb), and the eyes will light up. This also, isn't available in the Leader version.
However, because of Robovision Prime's smaller scale, much of the articulation that is found in the Leader version has been sacrificed. Individual fingers are unable to move, and the legs don't pose very well. Also, while the leader figure is bulkier, the transformation in that figure from truck-to-robot mode, seems to be more accurate to the movie character, as compared to Robovision Prime.
*Just a note that I didn't contradict myself: Robovision Prime has a more accurate look in robot mode, while Leader Prime has a more accurate transformation sequence.
All in all, despite some problems, Robovision Prime is definitely worth the buy, that is, if you can find it in Target. I won't recommend buying this toy at online vendors, since a lot of sellers seem to practice price gouging where this toy is concerned. An online price of $45 online is just ridiculous.
Robovision Prime was produced in limited quantity, which makes it great for collectors. Also, since this is a collector's toy, I certainly would not recommend it for children. Instead, get the "cyber stomping Optimus Prime" for the wee ones.

Transformers Cybertron Leader Galaxy Force Optimus Prime Review

The exact same mold with a different paint scheme from the original Cybertron Optimus Prime released in 2005.
Optimus has given up his Aubot Symbols with the 4 symbols of the Cyber (Planet) Keys and changing his classic Red and Blue for a much darker red and Black with a hint of silver and some gold to give him an "Updated" look.
All his transformation and abilities remain the same, and all his special powerlinx abilities remain as the previous mold. So he can be linked to Leobreaker and WingSaber.

With the rediscovery of the lost colony worlds and the reunificaiton of the Transformers race after millions of years, Optimus Prime has become the leader of far more people than he ever could have imagined. It is time, he thinks for a new golden era of peace in the galaxy, and he has ordered the construction of a fleet of starships so that the Autobots might explore the galaxy around them, bringing peace and justice wherever they go. While many of the Autobot soldiers who fought with him are choosing to remove their weapons systems now that the war is over, Optimus Prime has decided to keep his, not because he hopes war will once again come, but as a reminder of what once was. He hopes to serve as a reminder to all those who would bring violence and tyranny to the universe that there are mighty warriors who will stand against them always. Features twin rocket launchers, firing projectile, planetary unification badges, electronic lights and sounds, robot mode and super robot mode. Includes cyber planet key. Measures 9.5" tall. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Figure Set - Superion Review

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Figure Set - Superion

As you're casually passing by the toy aisle of the discount chain/toy store that you happen to frequent (in this case, Target), this humble looking figure happens to catch your eye on numerous occasions. You think, as you decide to pass it off as one of the clumsier molds in the TF ROTF line, what good would this figure be in little johnny's toybox (or rather, YOUR collection). Here's where the presumption ends.
After picking this sucker up, I found myself to be truly surprised by what Superion had to offer. He's now working his way into being what I regard as one of the neater entries into my cadre of TFs. Parents should note that this toy is among the best buys you could make, and hopefully an item that he'll (OR she'll) enjoy for a good amount of time. You get a bunch of scout figures and one deluxe that all form into one of the better-conceived combiner figures (this mold dates originally from the TRANSFORMERS: ENERGON line--- note the "crystals" that attach to each figures' torso) out there. Each part of Superion transforms into its own little robot. Each figure (and the sum thereof) amounts to a transformers smorgasborg of fun that goes on down the road. For the collectors, a fan-project modification for the hands has been made (check ebay for that little item) to further enhance the appearance of the aforementioned hands. Recommended.)
All in all, Superion may not be the hottest, coolest, or most intricate of the TF:ROTF line, but he sure delivers in the fun department.

The mighty union of the five Aerialbots, Superion thinks of little else besides destroying any Decepticons he encounters, and protecting any innocent bystanders nearby. The robots that combine to form this powerful warrior are experienced teammates, working in tandem to see that the Autobots emerge victorious from the fire of the ancient war.

Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Movie Human Alliance Bumblebee with Sam Witwicky Review

Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Movie Human Alliance Bumblebee with Sam Witwicky
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bumblebee is arguably the most popular Transformer behind Optimus Prime. Even Megatron (at least these days) doesn't hold a candle. We've seen many different versions of this Autobot so how does this one stand up? **Note: This is NOT the deluxe version of Bumble that sells for less than ten bucks. This is the Human Alliance Bumblebee - an altogether bigger and higher quality toy. **
For Kids:
In either robot or vehicle mode this is a quality toy with lots of detail and fun to play with. The inclusion of the Sam Witwicky action figure is a bonus for kids as well. I'm far from a kid (on the outside) these days but I remember loving the G1 transformers and the little action figure you could put inside - pretending you're that little guy with a big robot pal. The human factor is often forgotten these days. The main downside for kids is that the transformation is hard and like many of these movie transformers there are probably many kids who wouldn't have the patience for it.
For Adults:
Again, this is a bigger more detailed version. The car is top notch and while the interior could have more detail that it has an interior at all is a bonus considering that's a first for this line. This human alliance Bumblebee is almost twice the size of the deluxe version and a lot of that additional detail shows in the clear windows and seats, steering wheel and interior of the car.
In robot mode, words may not be able to describe it (I'll try to have some pics up). There is so much detail in this guy that I'd compare to the new Leader Class Optimus Prime as far as screen accuracy. Let's just say that this is the best representation of movie Bumblebee I've ever seen and I own the huge Ultimate Bumblebee... He's got the most accurate head sculpt and includes the battle mask that no other version I own does! Despite initial misgivings I found that the seats were well hidden in robot mode (they're out there but placed in such a way as to be unobtrusive). The back bumpers become the knee caps and another first (aside from the battle mask) the chest actually has two rotating sections to make the "tilted" look of his "pecks". Even that his right hand is a blaster does not make a big difference as it is so well done (and believe me, I've been upset by that blaster hand in many versions - why not a rotatable hand / weapon?) and looks so good.
His articulation is off the charts too. Tranformers have good articulation and this guy has great! I can't think of a pose I can't get him into (31 points at least). Flip his battle mask up or down, place his missiles where you want, he looks good.
For adult collectors the additional 2.5" Sam figure is not such a great deal. Sure he's there and sure he's pretty well areticulted but you have a giant robot to deal with. It should be said though that the robot has several options to carry the human - in his hand, on his shoulder or in his seat. That may be fun for you or the kids.
Maybe 30 plus dollars seems like a lot but maybe not once you get your hands on him. Transform and roll out with this Bumblebee. He's great and puts past versions to shame. His transformation is challenging but rewarding.

I've been a fan of the Transformers since their U.S. debut back in 1984, and what has impressed me the most about this Movie Line is the fact the Transformers are going back to their roots.
Robots In Disguise.
Transformers alt modes are now that of real, authentic looking vehicles, something that has not been seen since the early 80's.
Blackout was the first of this line I purchased, and I couldn't be happier.
He's a little difficult to transform at first, but gets easier. For the record, the above pic is wrong, his copter blades fold neatly against his back.
I can't wait for the movie to come out, it's been 23 years, welcome back.

Transformers Power Core Combiners Bombshock Action Figure Review

Transformers Power Core Combiners Bombshock Action Figure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've recently gotten back into Transformers, and I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by this toy. Instead of being denoted by class (Scout, Deluxe, Voyager and Leader), this toy was just called "Combinotrons". I was nervous that the size of the individual figures would be extremely small, since the majority of combining transformers is incredibly high. But, after trying it out, I can happily say that in robot mode, Bombshock is the same size as my other Voyager class tranformers.
The color apps on the toy are nice and solid, with a muted scheme of green and tans working with chrome and gray to great effect. The detailing on each robot is intricate and very well done. The individual vehicles in regular mode are proportional to the Optimus Prime Voyager class that I have, so that helps with display options. In robot mode, I was happy that everything stays together perfectly. None of the limbs fall off and peg in nicely, and the overall aesthetic of the robot form is really cool.
Two things to consider if you're thinking of buying Bombshock from here: One, the hand claws on mine flopped around very easily at first and did not stay in any position, but with some hot glue and super glue I thickened up the area where I wanted the claws to stay and it works nicely now. The other thing is that I actually bought mine from my local Target for about 11.00 dollars, so you might want to look into that alternative instead.
All in all, a great toy and an excellent addition to any Transformers collection.

Transformers Movie 2 Voyager - DEFENDER OPTIMUS PRIME Review

Transformers Movie 2 Voyager - DEFENDER OPTIMUS PRIME
Average Reviews:

How does Hasbro attempt to make yet another release of the same Optimus Prime voyager mold interesting? They paint the big boy blue and gray and give him a new arch rival - the new stealth fighter decepticon Transformers Movie 2 Voyager - MINDWIPE.
Other than the new N.E.S.T. background info hyping the struggle with his new psychic foe, there isn't anything fresh with this incarnation of Optimus. Snazzy black smokestacks second as powerful cannons to take out aerial attacks. There is also a silver cowboy in the driver seat that mysteriously has no hands.
As with every other voyager movie Optimus Prime toy, the vehicle mode is more accurate than the robot. It feels solid as a truck and it actually rolls which is never a given with the newer toys. Personally I like the paint scheme which is similar to the leader class Transformers Nightwatch Optimus Prime except the blue is darker and there are reddish flames on the front. I would have liked it a bit better if the whole truck was blue with silver flames.
The robot mode is not bad looking, but it isn't very accurate to what you see in the films. The often maligned "backpack syndrome" returns(where the front of the truck swings around in transformation to hang off the back of the figure). The actual transforming is fairly painless and while it still suffers from that fragile feeling... it's still more secure than some of the other voyagers such as Transformers Movie Voyager Blackout with Scorponok.
If you are an Optimus Prime completest, then by all means pick this guy up. If you already have the previous voyagers and are looking for something new... then you may want to pass. At less than half the price of the leader class toys the Defender Optimus Prime is at least half as much fun.

Since the battle in Egypt, OPTIMUS PRIME has outfitted himself with the gear he needs to take out airborne opponents. Unfortunately, MINDWIPE attacks on two fronts, taking cheap shots at the AUTOBOT from the air, while his hypnotized flunkies assault him on the ground. OPTIMUS PRIME struggles desperately, searching for a way to take out MINDWIPE without harming any of the innocents he's brainwashed. Recreate exciting movie scenes or stage your own living room battles with this fierce-looking figure! In robot mode, your DEFENDER OPTIMUS PRIME figure is ready to fight with you for justice. When you two detect enemies approaching, convert him to truck vehicle mode so he can meet them on the road, convert his smokestacks to cannon accessories and show the bad guys what kind of "firepower" the AUTOBOTS forces really have!

My kids have many Transformers and they love them. We buy them for all the imaginative play that they provide. I would say that most of them fall apart occasionally (some more then others). My kids are not hard on their toys and this gets to be quite frustrating at times. Jetfire and Jetstorm are by far the worst offenders. If you owned the original Jetfire that was released in the 80's, and were expecting an all metal version of that classic Macross based design, you will be sorely disappointed. The transformation of the figure differs significantly from the original, enough to make one question the name on the box. Whereas the original allowed me to play Transformers or Macross, this new figure just annoys me.Calling it a metal Transformer is also inaccurate - like calling a car an all metal product would be inaccurate. There are metal parts, but most of the figure is still plastic - not unlike the first generation Optimus Prime from the 80's.That said, the quality of the figure is still good. It's a pain to transform, and not nearly as high quality as the name suggests, but it isn't horrible. If you're looking for nostalgia from your youth, look elsewhere... if you're looking for a toy for your grandkid, you could do worse.

Before the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons broke out, Jetfire was a partner and friend to Starscream. The two were as close as brothers; the one as calm, rational and slow to anger as the other was jealous, erratic and arrogant. When Starscream joined the Decepticons in attacking the Autobot held cities of Cybertron, Jetfire was slow to chose sides. He was hesitant to join in the slaughter of largely defenseless Autobots, but did not want to take up arms against someone he'd considered a friend. Converts from robot to vehicle. Titanium Series Transformers 6 Inch Metal Cybertron Heroes Scorge
Average Reviews:

For those of us who remember the original '86 animated movie, we surley can appreciate the rareness of finding a true scourge figure. This guy delivers there, as this is probably the most acurate scourge figue ever, including the G1 original. After that though it's tough to find to much to like here, first for collectors, it took me about a half hour to get him out of the package, and even being that careful one of his arms snapped off anyway.(thankfully they snap back on) Once I did, i found out quickly that die-cast metal and thin plastic aren't a good combo. everytime I transform it, it feels like the plastic will break, no matter how careful. A few pluses though, it is highly posable and stands up very well due do the fact that half it's weight is in it's legs. Also as someone who has owned hundreds of transformers, this one may be the easiest transformation in history, three steps...legs-wings- fold up head.
So if you are a fan of the original movie, or a collector who dosen't mind throwing out the box, you may like this one. This should be avoided for kids though, despite the easy transformation, it is very flimsy.

After the catastrophic battle in which both Megatron and Optimus were mortally damaged, the fleeing Decepticon forces dumped the ruined bodies of their former comrades into space to lighten their load. In the void of deep space, the wreckage drifted until an ancient creature known as Unicron swallowed it up, melted it down, and used it to create a host of mechanical servants. Among this host was a squad of elite tracker-terminators, led by the deadly and silent Scourge.
Screaming down out of the night sky of Cybertron, Scourge and his troops fell upon Autobot and Decepticon alike, destroying all those who stood against them. They were the first in a long line of heralds and servants to the evil Unicron, and to this day many of the streets and buildings of Cybertron carry the scars left by their powerful disintegration cannons.

Transformers Cybertron Voyager Vector Prime with Safeguard Review

Transformers Cybertron Voyager Vector Prime with Safeguard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overview: A unique-looking spaceship transforms into an impressive and highly posable robot. Vector Prime is highly original in both modes, and even includes a very impressive mini-con, which is also beautiful in both modes.
Robot Mode: Vector Prime is well-proportioned, has enough articulation to assume any number of impressive poses, and dons a very detailed and expressive face that's difficult to forget. My only regret with this mode is that the hand is too small to properly hold the sword. It dangles and falls out easily.
Vehicle Mode: This mode is simply stunning. The designers have completely reinvented the common Star-Trek inspired perceptions of a starship. This vehicle is sleek and elegant, yet very alien-looking. The solar sails on each side are an excellent sci-fi touch, and the mini-con station allows the mini-con shuttle to fire its weapons forward and launch on a moment's notice. It's clear that a tremendous amount of thought went into the design of this vehicle, which is why I find it regrettable that the vehicle is shrunk down to such a small size scale while Starscream (a single pilot fighter as opposed to a full starship) is 3x its size and possesses far less detail in both modes.
Transformation: Easy to do. Of particular interest is the fact that Prime can "hide" his sword in vehicle mode. An impressive solution to having it magically appear when he transforms.
To Conclude: This is a very high quality Transformer, and definitely worth purchasing. Some have argued that the Japanese version, which has a faded gray exterior instead of a pure white one, looks more like a worn, metallic interstellar battleship, but I find nothing unappealing about the colors of the American version. B+
