Transformers Movie RoboVision Optimus Prime Review

(More customer reviews)Currently, there are two versions of Optimus Prime available: The Voyager class, and Leader class. The "Robovision Optimus Prime" happens to be a metallic repaint of the voyager class figure, and was sold exclusively at Target for $19.99. In robot mode, Robivison Prime stands at 8 inches in height, as compared to the 12 inch Leader figure.
But, size is not the only thing separating these figures, as transformations are completely different. For Leader prime, the front grill in truck mode, converts to the bottom parts of the robot's feet. The robot feet in Robovison Prime, are tucked away behind the truck's cab. Also, the smoke stacks in Robovision can convert into laser rifles - a feature that isn't available in the Leader class.
As for design, I would say that the Robovision Prime seems more accurate of a representation to the movie character, in robot mode. Much of the bulk in the leader class version, has been trimmed down in Robovision Prime, producing a more streamlined figure. Also, Robovision prime has light piping in the eyes. Just place the figure below any strong light source (a bulb), and the eyes will light up. This also, isn't available in the Leader version.
However, because of Robovision Prime's smaller scale, much of the articulation that is found in the Leader version has been sacrificed. Individual fingers are unable to move, and the legs don't pose very well. Also, while the leader figure is bulkier, the transformation in that figure from truck-to-robot mode, seems to be more accurate to the movie character, as compared to Robovision Prime.
*Just a note that I didn't contradict myself: Robovision Prime has a more accurate look in robot mode, while Leader Prime has a more accurate transformation sequence.
All in all, despite some problems, Robovision Prime is definitely worth the buy, that is, if you can find it in Target. I won't recommend buying this toy at online vendors, since a lot of sellers seem to practice price gouging where this toy is concerned. An online price of $45 online is just ridiculous.
Robovision Prime was produced in limited quantity, which makes it great for collectors. Also, since this is a collector's toy, I certainly would not recommend it for children. Instead, get the "cyber stomping Optimus Prime" for the wee ones.

Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Movie Human Alliance Bumblebee with Sam Witwicky Review

(More customer reviews)Bumblebee is arguably the most popular Transformer behind Optimus Prime. Even Megatron (at least these days) doesn't hold a candle. We've seen many different versions of this Autobot so how does this one stand up? **Note: This is NOT the deluxe version of Bumble that sells for less than ten bucks. This is the Human Alliance Bumblebee - an altogether bigger and higher quality toy. **
For Kids:
In either robot or vehicle mode this is a quality toy with lots of detail and fun to play with. The inclusion of the Sam Witwicky action figure is a bonus for kids as well. I'm far from a kid (on the outside) these days but I remember loving the G1 transformers and the little action figure you could put inside - pretending you're that little guy with a big robot pal. The human factor is often forgotten these days. The main downside for kids is that the transformation is hard and like many of these movie transformers there are probably many kids who wouldn't have the patience for it.
For Adults:
Again, this is a bigger more detailed version. The car is top notch and while the interior could have more detail that it has an interior at all is a bonus considering that's a first for this line. This human alliance Bumblebee is almost twice the size of the deluxe version and a lot of that additional detail shows in the clear windows and seats, steering wheel and interior of the car.
In robot mode, words may not be able to describe it (I'll try to have some pics up). There is so much detail in this guy that I'd compare to the new Leader Class Optimus Prime as far as screen accuracy. Let's just say that this is the best representation of movie Bumblebee I've ever seen and I own the huge Ultimate Bumblebee... He's got the most accurate head sculpt and includes the battle mask that no other version I own does! Despite initial misgivings I found that the seats were well hidden in robot mode (they're out there but placed in such a way as to be unobtrusive). The back bumpers become the knee caps and another first (aside from the battle mask) the chest actually has two rotating sections to make the "tilted" look of his "pecks". Even that his right hand is a blaster does not make a big difference as it is so well done (and believe me, I've been upset by that blaster hand in many versions - why not a rotatable hand / weapon?) and looks so good.
His articulation is off the charts too. Tranformers have good articulation and this guy has great! I can't think of a pose I can't get him into (31 points at least). Flip his battle mask up or down, place his missiles where you want, he looks good.
For adult collectors the additional 2.5" Sam figure is not such a great deal. Sure he's there and sure he's pretty well areticulted but you have a giant robot to deal with. It should be said though that the robot has several options to carry the human - in his hand, on his shoulder or in his seat. That may be fun for you or the kids.
Maybe 30 plus dollars seems like a lot but maybe not once you get your hands on him. Transform and roll out with this Bumblebee. He's great and puts past versions to shame. His transformation is challenging but rewarding.

Robots In Disguise.
Transformers alt modes are now that of real, authentic looking vehicles, something that has not been seen since the early 80's.
Blackout was the first of this line I purchased, and I couldn't be happier.
He's a little difficult to transform at first, but gets easier. For the record, the above pic is wrong, his copter blades fold neatly against his back.
I can't wait for the movie to come out, it's been 23 years, welcome back.

I wish I could find some replacement darts for it though as his little sister has made of with 2 of them. lol Overall he loves it so that makes me happy. Transformers Movie Voyager Ironhide Review

(More customer reviews)After being a fan of Transformers when I was younger, I had to go out and get at least one of the new toys for the movie. (Although I'm 28 years old). Let me just say that first of all I am very impressed. Although transforming this thing from truck to robot and back almost took the better part of an hour for the first time, the look and feel of the finished transformed product is amazing. Although some of the other Transformers seem a little top heavy in robot mode, Ironhide has large feet making him pretty easy to stand up. He also looks awesome in robot mode, with a ton of detail... and the black color makes it very attractive, especially to the older crowd. While in truck mode (and it seems very difficult to get these things back into vehicle mode) the toy actually seems very "playable" with all of the many moving parts snapping back into place nicely to form a solid truck. It it actually looks like a normal toy truck... the engineering that went into this is genius. However, like I said, I don't think this thing was made for kids. With so many little moving parts, twisting and turning and snapping and folding and clicking, something is bound to break if this guy is overhandled. And I also remember the days that you could pick up a Transformer and figure out how to transform it on your own... GOOD LUCK. Even with the instructions right in my face it took a good deal of time to get him from truck to robot and back. After carefully reviewing all of the toys in the store, what they looked like in both forms, I would say Ironhide would have to be my favorite, and I am not dissapointed in the least. He looks awesome.

Paint scarred and chrome chipped by shrapnel from a hundred battles, he is the oldest of the Autobots. His right hip is a mass of bypases and temporary solutions, his power core and timing system are irregular and his idle is set way too high; but his optics are the sharpest on Cybertron, and his cannon arm is as steady as ever. Optimus prime relies on him for tactical advice and cool head. As long as they keep making missiles compatible with his cannons, he'll keep fighting, until every last Decepticon is a smoldering wreck. Measures 7".

Rated for 5+ yrs, ONLY if they are going to play with it in one form or the other. There is no way they would be able to transform this truck. Nice quality toy, can convert it in less than a minute now, kinda like a simplified rubics cube,(think of it as kind of a cool puzzle). My 4 year old son loves it(although he needs daddy's help to convert it).

Skywarp - Transformers Cybertron Deluxe Review

(More customer reviews)If you're like me, you grew up as a child in the 1980's watching the original Transformers cartoon series and playing with those toys. If you're even more like me, then some of your favorites were the Decepticon seeker jets.
IF YOU'RE NOT LIKE ME, WELL I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE!
Although they eventually added more, the original 3 Decepticon jets were Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp. Now, over 20 years later, you can again find those 3 jets back on the store shelves, but if you're looking at the Trasnformers Cybertron line of toys (as this product is from), i should warn you that these aren't the exact characters you grew up with.
I'll single out Skywarp because that's who I'm reviewing here.
Yes, Skywarp is a jet. Yes, he has a lot of purple on him (although the original was more black and purple) Yes, he is a Decepticon. Yes, he is a sneaky little jerk who enjoys teleporting back and forth and playing tricks on both the Autobots and even his own friends.
Sounds like the old Skywarp, right?
Well, sorta. This toy is actually based on a seperate character from the new Cybertron cartoon series they show on the Cartoon network. While they have things in common and while that character was obviously loosely based on the first one, they are in fact different. That said, either way, it's not a bad toy to pick up.
This Skywarp has some good points and bad points but I feel like the good outweighs the bad. I'll get the negative out of the way first.
First of all, it's not the easiest transformation mode. It's far from impossible but takes some working to figure out. The instructions don't do you a lot of favors, but try it enough times and you'll get it down pat. The robot mode is slightly awkward looking because Skywarp has one regular arm and one cannon arm.
Okay, now for the good. Despite it having far less black than a "traditional" Skywarp, I actually like the color scheme a lot. I think a diehard Transformers fan might have been involved on this one because the purple, red and grey remind me a lot of Cyclonus, the charcter the original Skywarp turned into during Transformers - The Movie. The seeker jet mode is also really cool looking and would fit well into any Transformers toy line or "generation". Finally, for you Wal-Mart shoppers, they just rolled the prices back on the "Deluxe Class" of their Cybertron line, meaning you can get this and a couple other cool figures for under $8 now. I wouldn't say it's the best Transformers toy ever, but I think it's a pretty good addition to almost every collection.

Transformers Movie Leader Megatron Review

(More customer reviews)Yes, cliche but it's quite true - this Megatron has really grown on me! the legs are a little tricky to position just right when transforming to alt mode, but after a few tries it'll be a breeze. The design looks much more solid and menacing than the mediocre Voyager Megatron, it looks cool just standing there. I wouldn't recommend it for children under 8, unless you know your child to be a real wiz or you don't mind them coming up to you every 15 minutes and asking you to transform it. BTW, there was a factory error in production, the spring that is meant to fire his whipping claw was placed in the opposite arm, which stops his fusion cannon from remaining deployed. All you need to do is remove a few screws and take each arm apart, replace the tiny spring in the whipping claw arm with the larger fusion cannon arm spring (you can just discard the smaller spring), screw them back together and it will work exactly as it was intended. It's a sad flaw, but try it out!

Megatron is a towering, bulky, dinosaur-footed monstrosity with a varied color scheme noticeably different than that of the movie version. Megatron?s jet mode looks a little bit like one of Leonardo da Vinci?s flying machines. His robot mode, bearing a slightly simplified version of the movie Megatron?s intricate armor plating, is reasonably well articulated. Among Megatron?s arsenal of gimmick features are electronic sounds and lights, a launching claw that becomes a chain whip, and arms that combine to form a fusion cannon. Initially Megatron was Cybertron?s designated Lord High Protector, although eventually he succumbed to his consuming lust for the all spark. Megatron?s agenda placed him in opposition of Optimus Prime forcing the latter to rally a militia against Megatron?s Deceptions. Megatron was single-minded and monstrously powerful; the Deceptions gained ground against their adversaries, and as a desperate contingency the all spark was jettisoned into space. Megatron?s attempt to find the all spark ultimately divided him from his forces and led him into frounceen stasis.

Transformers Movie Hasbro Leader Action Figure Premium Optimus Prime Review

(More customer reviews)I've been a fan of transformers ever since I was little, and was amazed at the movie when it came out, well after I seen this figure of optimus on here I decided to get it and I'm glad I did. The truck mode is very well detailed, with small bits of metallic looking paint used on the grill, I also like the flame design. There's a small button on top of the cab that makes the horn sound and the windows on the cab light up. It is a little difficult to transform, but its not so bad once you do it a few times.
Robot mode is where this thing shines, IMO. It's pretty much almost an exact replica of prime from the movie. This figure is exactly the same as the regular movie leader prime save for a few differences. One notable difference is the head is changed to look more like the movie version, and his weapon is no longer the blaster, but the sword he uses in the movie. Both are pluses to me. Overall I think this is a figure that both Transformers fans young and old will enjoy, and I would definitely recommend ordering from here, the service is great and it even arrived a day earlier than expected!

Transformers Movie Deluxe Decepticon Swindle Review

Swindle refers to a unit type used to populate both the Autobot and Decepticon ranks; this model, the Swindle version with the camera lens-type head, indicates a Decepticon unit, such as the one that interrogated Bumblebee. He looks cool in a scavenging, impromptu way, and appears to be as well articulated as his fellow Deluxe scale Decepticons. Swindle is equipped with a large torso-mounted cannon. Swindle is cited as being the intellectual equivalent of a Sharticon??s tail, but he compensates for the deficit with crazed enthusiasm, bizarre antics, and a zigzagging battle style. Swindle takes pleasure in the random detonation of all things within his immediate sphere. A horde of Swindle units would seem to indicate a minor cataclysm resulting in hackneyed explosions and casualties on either side.

Transformers Movie Leader Decepticon Brawl Review

His articulation is decent, but it's not hard to put him in his movie pose, arm extended as he fires round after round... if you loved Brawl's menacing presence in the film, this is the toy for you. Ignore the mis-Transformed pictures that are often shown, his head isn't visible in tank mode.

This didn't stop him from playing with it though. He still loves it anyway. Overall a great toy but I wish I hadn't payed 30 bucks for it. I would be happier had I only payed 15-20 bucks.

Transformers Movie Deluxe Optimus Prime Review

(More customer reviews)The toy itself is incredibly durable, which is the best hing about it. I know it is durable, because as the family worked to transform it, parts were snaping off right and left...very frustrating. The durability rating comes at a 5, because these parts were designed to snap off and then snap back on so it doesn't permanently break the piece. Overall, I think that is nice (considering that the old transformers didn't have this feature and many of them broke when a child was trying to get them back into a different form).
The biggest frustration with the toy, however, comes from the instructions. They are not clearly written, and we found that most of the time we tried to do what the instructions said, found it unclear or impossible to do, and ended up fiddling around with the toy until enough shoving and twisting made a piece move into something closer to the picture (We eventually stopped trying to follow the instructions because it was easier to just fidget with the parts until they looked more like the picture on the package).
The other frustrating thing with the instructions is that it only gives you instructions for transforming the toy into robot mode. The instructions to transform back are simply to go in reverse. With other transformers, this is not as frustrating because it starts out NOT in robot mode. This toy starts in robot mode, so the instructions are even more difficult to follow because you are going in reverse.
Overall, the toy is just frustrating for many reasons. It doesn't transform easily, the instructions are not clear, and the toy makes me want for the old transformers that I could transform as a six-year old with no engineering degree.
