(More customer reviews)My son was SOOO excited when he opened this for Christmas. It was his main present... it was all he asked for. Imagine his disappointment when it didn't work. To add insult to injury, the instructions are HORRIBLY translated from Korean. I spent 2 hours (no exaggeration) combing through all the Korean writing mixed in with English looking for any clues that might suggest that I had simply not connected everything properly. [Here's a great example of the helpful instructions: "By contraries, you can control the tank when the headlight isn't flash." It wouldn't be so bad if the tank only cost $5 or $10... you almost expect that sort of thing. There's no store I can return it to. Instead I'll have to e-mail the reseller who will inevitably send me an RMA and then I'll have to ship this thing off. If I'm lucky I'll have a replacement in a month. (If I insist on getting a functioning unit... which I will not.)

This is the Special Metal Treads Editon of our latest 1:16 Scale Smoking Edition German Tiger I RC Battle Tank with Bigger and More Powerful Engine! It has a built-in smoke generator and produces simulative motor start-up sound, engine sound, machine-gun sound, and cannonball sound. It's almost 2 feet in length! Transformers Movie Leader Decepticon Brawl Review

His articulation is decent, but it's not hard to put him in his movie pose, arm extended as he fires round after round... if you loved Brawl's menacing presence in the film, this is the toy for you. Ignore the mis-Transformed pictures that are often shown, his head isn't visible in tank mode.

LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants Chum Bucket Review

(More customer reviews)If you buy this toy be prepared to add some additional pieces and make some major changes before you have something munchkins can actually play with - as far as kids loving it, definitely passes that test my 5 and 3 year old can't get enough of it - however, as with many lego sets, keeping it all together in one piece is a serious problem ... it seems like if you so much as touch it the wrong way the chumbucket falls apart - after putting it back together again for the tenth time I finally got a large flat thin "plate" of lego (also called a lego baseplate if you're looking to buy one) to anchor the chumbucket to, 16 by 32 (e.g. 16 by 32 "dots" wide) and got rid of some pieces on the bottom of the chumbucket - this meant changing it's somewhat round shape to a straight "wall" shaped structure, which my kids didn't mind at all but which older kids might find irritating since it will no longer look like the chumbucket from the TV show ... when THAT didn't work and it kept falling apart I built up a small "wall" of 2 by 2 (two "dots" wide on a side) bricks all around the foundation of the chumbucket (except for the doors since they need to open), which seems to be keeping it in place so far... I would also recommend a number of additional small flat 2 by 2 lego pieces to help hold the hand together on top of the chumbucket as well ... to be honest the kids are much more likely to play with the accesories that come with it than the chumbucket building itself - plankton's tank, robotic crabby patty, robot spongebob, robot customer, and hypnosis chamber - however even these accessories fall apart easily... fortunately they are easily fixed (even my 3 year old can slap the gun back on plankton's tank when it falls off, which it does on a routine basis).
Please note that my criticisms apply to pretty much any lego set being built nowadays - all of them tend to fall apart pretty easily and I see no easy way around it. Note as well that (as long as you have the patience to keep slapping the parts back on that fall off until your kids learn how to do it themselves from watching you - that's been my experience anyways) despite this flaw kids tend to have lots of fun with the lego sets anyways - my munchkins were also delighted with the spongebob krusty crab lego set we bought as well as the doc ock train chase, spider man helicopter and batman lego sets we've purchased in the past... the fact that they have so many lego sets and play with them so often should tell you something about how much kids love these sets.

Transformers Movie Deluxe Decepticon Brawl Review

(More customer reviews)Brawls seems fairly durable and does look menacing. However, the recommended ages from Hasbro and Amazon should not be taken seriously. Any kid under 7 or 8 will have a very difficult ranging into impossible time transforming Brawls, and since his ability to transform is a big part of his value, keep that in consideration. A Transformer savvy adult, with the instructions, can transform Brawls for the first time in say 10-15 minutes, and get down to 3-6 minutes depending on one's dexterity.With tons of practice and Chopin-like fingers you could probably do it in two, and impress the ladies. For kids, the initial times are much longer and really depend on age and development, and parents should expect to help out, especially with those first couple transformations.
In robot mode, Brawls can stand up without tipping over, though consistently getting him to stand takes a little practice. Previous experience with Transformers and other action figures is a big plus. The fact that his tank treads can act as secondary leg supports in robot mode allows a couple more poses/balancing schemes than there otherwise would be. As a tank he cuts a mean profile and its easy for the imaginative to forget he's a relatively little toy. Be very careful with the clip-on turret missile launchers, the clip-on front bocage cutters, and the long, red projectile he fires. These parts are super easy for kids and adults alike to lose, and are such nice touches that you certainly won't want to. Hasbro was on the ball when they designed Brawls to transform without removing these parts. Also, his gun fires the projectile a few feet and you really can hit things, to the delight of children and yourself.
A note on pricing and value. I bought Brawls at my local Toys R Us for $9.99. That's right- $9.99. While he makes a cool collectible I doubt whether he'll hold his value over that in the near future, especially since I'd imagine Hasbro is quite likely to put out another production run given the success of the movie. How much you want to spend is up to one's your individual judgment but keep in mind that people are super-stoked about Transformers right now, and psychological considerations are probably driving up his and every other Trasformer's prices considerably.

Transformers Movie Deluxe Dreadwing Jet Review

(More customer reviews)I just picked up Dreadwing from the movie deluxe line today. I have always liked the Decepticon Jets and I just had to have this one even though he is not featured in the 2007 movie. The figure comes packed in his alt mode which is a really attractive MiG 29 Fulcrum in Russian winter military camo. The only drawback to the alt mode is the large cylinder hanging under the belly that becomes Dreadwing's legs. This is a similar gripe to the one I have for Starscream, the scale appearance of the jet makes sacrifices to the needs of a transforming toy and just stores extra parts folded up under the body. The underbody portion also has 4 small wheels so you can roll him around if you like. There is no proper landing gear. There are 2 missles that double as afterburner jet blasts in the alternate mode.
The Robot mode is where things get a little interesting. This robot is much like Starscream in his simian appearance. he has a very heavy upper body with tiny little legs. The nose cone of the jet simply folds backward to reveal a "lensface" head with no real features. I find it to be a very strange design choice to have these large autonomous robots be completely featureless in thier facial anatomy. It makes the character seem a bit of a throwaway, but I guess it serves the souless nature of the decepticons that they are trying to achieve in this generation of toys. The robot mode is fairly fun though, and he has double missile launchers for hands, again, just like starscream. He is a good addition to the deluxe line as he is the only deluxe figure that is an aircraft.

Transformers Leader Megatron Review

(More customer reviews)Like the ROTF Leader Class Prime, this Megatron is a big improvement over his first movie Leader Class incarnation. The detail is much improved, I like that he turns into something that we have seen Megatron as in past cartoons, and the design in robot mode is much closer to that which is seen in the original G1 cartoon. The tank mode is awesome, almost looking better than robot mode. The transformation is actually not that bad, something that if a little kids wants to they could do. The only problem is maybe needing a little muscle. Having Hugo Weaving's voice is cool. The cannon noise gets a little annoying with every time you turn the gun arm. Overall, a pretty good Megatron.

Terminator - 6'' T-1 Review

(More customer reviews)The T-1, granddaddy of all terminators (or maybe distant uncle of Johnny Five that just got out of prison), is a mobile tank like, robot, mini-gun platform. Needless to say this was way before the robots started slipping on skin. The toy however is not quite so cool.
He's kind of a clunky guy but even at that this sculpt is a little underdeveloped without the level of detail that could really make him look cool. There is decent work on the treads but most of the rest looks a little too toy like (for collector purposes). Also, you want him to be a big honking robot but even though he is six inch scale he's only about 5 tall, shorter than the 6 inch endoskeletons. Maybe that's to scale but it looks way small.
The paint application is dismal. Looking at it in the package I thought it might be but was interested enough to give it a chance out of the package. No luck. Mostly it is molded in grey plastic but quite a bit of brown was added for a muddy look. But it doesn't look like mud. It just looks like someone smeared brown paint all over an otherwise OK looking toy complete with brush strokes in the paint. Maybe if they'd just stopped at the highlights on the treads.
Articulation is basic - the front tread rotates - it's kind of just clipped to the front which doesn't look that good, the "waist" rotates and the guns swivel a limited amount - their tops are simply open slots that slip over a basic knob and they just pop off. It does roll with wheels at the bottom of the treads - the treads do not actually move.
There are two action features. The first is kind of cool, as you roll it along a mechanism attached to one of the wheels makes it rotate back and forth at the waist. The second is that his guns shoot but... the whole front of the gun shoots off. It doesn't shoot bullets or projectiles, the whole face of the gun where bullets would come out is the projectile like some kind of one use gun that destroys itself. I totally would have given this goofy feature up for mini-guns that simply spin... You know, like they are supposed to.
Overall I was not as happy with T-1 as I'd wanted to be.
