(More customer reviews)The T-RIP (Resistance Infiltrator Prototype) is the prototype (or daddy if you prefer) of the T-800. This is the endoskeleton T-RIP and is a silver version. He is a bit of a mixed bag.
On the plus side he looks good with plenty of details on the skull and especially the hydraulics and tubing in the upper torso area. There is plenty of detail on the legs and the feet look great. He has red plastic eyes connected to a small window of the same color material at the top of his head so if placed under a light his eyes will appear to glow. As clunky as my description is you really barely notice this small round window on his head so no worries there. He has two accessories that fit in his hands fine. One is a dark metallic colored gun. The other is a pretty long piece of pipe he can use to bust you up. The threaded end looks really good.
Some negatives are size and articulation. In the size category he just looks kind of small and next to other 6" scale action figures this gets noticeable. Now in their defense, Playmates had to basically make a skeleton, which will of course be a bit scrawny looking and next to other 6" figures I can see where these are actually the right size to be a skeleton in this scale. But this is basically a movie monster and it couldn't hurt to be a little larger than life.
Articulation is limited. You get shoulder and elbow joints and hip and knee joints and the feet rotate. That's about it. The shoulders have a good range of movement both up and down and side to side. The elbows go up and down and rotate but you have to work for the rotation and be brave. Hips and knees are forward and back only. You can move the waist but it snaps back to center. You can move the neck but due to hydraulics attached to the torso up to the base of the skull it pulls it back to center after time. I'd have been happy without that set of hydraulics if I got neck articulation out of it.
He looks good and is fun but not quite as fun as he could be. If you like terminators and have the money then he's a worth while pick up.

Terminator - 6'' T-1 Review

(More customer reviews)The T-1, granddaddy of all terminators (or maybe distant uncle of Johnny Five that just got out of prison), is a mobile tank like, robot, mini-gun platform. Needless to say this was way before the robots started slipping on skin. The toy however is not quite so cool.
He's kind of a clunky guy but even at that this sculpt is a little underdeveloped without the level of detail that could really make him look cool. There is decent work on the treads but most of the rest looks a little too toy like (for collector purposes). Also, you want him to be a big honking robot but even though he is six inch scale he's only about 5 tall, shorter than the 6 inch endoskeletons. Maybe that's to scale but it looks way small.
The paint application is dismal. Looking at it in the package I thought it might be but was interested enough to give it a chance out of the package. No luck. Mostly it is molded in grey plastic but quite a bit of brown was added for a muddy look. But it doesn't look like mud. It just looks like someone smeared brown paint all over an otherwise OK looking toy complete with brush strokes in the paint. Maybe if they'd just stopped at the highlights on the treads.
Articulation is basic - the front tread rotates - it's kind of just clipped to the front which doesn't look that good, the "waist" rotates and the guns swivel a limited amount - their tops are simply open slots that slip over a basic knob and they just pop off. It does roll with wheels at the bottom of the treads - the treads do not actually move.
There are two action features. The first is kind of cool, as you roll it along a mechanism attached to one of the wheels makes it rotate back and forth at the waist. The second is that his guns shoot but... the whole front of the gun shoots off. It doesn't shoot bullets or projectiles, the whole face of the gun where bullets would come out is the projectile like some kind of one use gun that destroys itself. I totally would have given this goofy feature up for mini-guns that simply spin... You know, like they are supposed to.
Overall I was not as happy with T-1 as I'd wanted to be.
