(More customer reviews)OK, I usually don't do this whole review thing, but I couldn't pass on this one. It's a big price tag heading under many Christmas trees this year. My son pooled all of his recent birthday money and toy savings to buy an N.S.E.C.T. I will start with a positive. The walking feature and tank like controls are very cool. The N.S.E.C.T.'s legs can be controlled independently giving it the ability to turn around in place and is quite fun to drive. That said, the is a lot that can go wrong with a toy like this and we are returning our second today and calling it quits on the whole idea.
Our first N.S.E.C.T. would not fire at all despite the loud clacking noise it made when trying. Our second will actually launch darts in the 3 to 5 foot range (just shy of the 25 feet listed) with a similar loud clacking. Both have had difficulties with raising and lowering the missile launcher. The ridges on the wings seem to catch the edge of the launcher every once and awhile.
This is a complicated piece of machinery with loads of moving parts to give out. Unfortunately, ours won't be staying around long enough to comment on the durability. Beware that it is also loud and cannot walk on hard floors.
If this toy is destine to find its way under your Christmas tree, I would recommend pre-charging the battery (it needs a 5.5 hour charge to start). It is very easy to remove without disturbing much of the packaging. Just open the back of the package and slide the inside structure out. The battery and charger are on the underside.

(More customer reviews)My 5 year old son wanted a robot after playing with a friends WowWee robot. I picked this one because it looked easy to use and it said it did all kinds of things, one of which was it comes out of it's shell the more you play with it. Here we are less than a month since Christmas and it is barely played with these days. The problem is it just doesn't do much, one of the "games" is mocking its movements with the remote, not exactly a fun game. What this robot does do however is go through batteries, the first 24 hours it went through 4 Cs. While not being played with much these day when it is it is a tough toy. It has fallen down a few stairs and been dropped over and over but it keeps going. Good intro for a kid wanting a robot and the price is much lower than some of the others I have seen but now we have it and I know how little it does I see why the price is so low.

Roborover is an agile tread based companion with a shy but inquisitive nature, his personality grows and becomes more confident as you play with him. He is always eager to be on the move or play games with you. The remote controller has a Follow Me function so you can have Roborover search for you. (More customer reviews)This robot kit does work somewhat. HOWEVER, the pieces did not fit together, so I had to find pieces in my workshop to make it work. Otherwise it would have been nothing but an expensive paperweight. Pieces aside, the directions are awful, and incorrect. There were pictures, fortunately, but the directions called for the wrong pieces some times. And then, worst of all, the directions just end. They don't even say "now turn on the switch" or anything like that. The computer connection requires a 9 pin serial port, which can't be found on any recent model laptops, ipads, or netbooks. Overall, just say no, spend another 200 dollars and get a Mindstorms kit. It's way more fun and can do a whole lot more.

Things I like about this model kit are that the blue armor links on the flexible arms are separate pieces from the dark colored parts which makes painting ALOT easier. All of the "fingers" and "Toes" are articulated as well as each link in his flexible arms. The shoulder armor, waist, hips, and knees all move as well. My main problem is its old school bandia which means the parts a little more brittle then what you would see now. Just be careful and dont break anything when removing gating material.

I would say that most of them fall apart occasionally (some more then others). My kids are not hard on their toys and this gets to be quite frustrating at times. Jetfire and Jetstorm are by far the worst offenders. They got them today, and I would say I have reattached legs, body plates, etc. more then 30 times in one evening. :O

So when he asked for this I didn't know where to find it since it hasn't been in stores for some time now, but there it was on Amazon, so we got it. The price is ok, but when my child saw it, the look on his face made up for how much it cost. He loves it, and it is sturdy and well made. If you like transformers this is definately one for the collection.

(More customer reviews)Okay, so it came very quickly. The only down-side i had was i had to order twice since a carrier (No fault of Amazon) couldnt "find" my address. But i called Amazon, and they got that cleared up and sent to me very fast. Once it came i spent an entire weekend building it. It looks gorgeous and is only for those with experience building gundams. I have built several and this presented me with a challenge or two building it. First major challenge was the wiring. it tells you certain lengths to cut then shave down to bare wire. cut exactly how much wire they tell you, with maybe 2mm extra in case you're like me and need to expose the wire multiple times for re-wiring. Pay attention to the color of the wire shown in the instructions, yes it does matter. Also, it didn't come with the batteries, but those were easily found and purchased at a local jeweler/watch shop. Also have some glue handy, as some of the snap in parts don't snap in and stay perfectly. Once it was done, i was very proud of myself. the level of detail is unreal. it's a little wing-heavy once you try to pose, so i would get a wide stand, with multiple arms if you can find it. But this is the best gundam i have ever, and well worth every penny.

About 30 locations secured by metal screws. Two different locations light up on the finished kit (eyes and chest). Full inner mechanism detail on all limbs. Gundam Seed Astray Red Frame Model Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This gundam model is very different, because this is one of the newer gundams, there are many design changes that allow the gundam to be more poseable, such as more flexibility in the arms and legs. This gundam is not marked with a grade, but it seemed to be between HG and MG. The only bad thing about this gundam is that the shoulder guard is not locked together, what i mean is that the front and back guards are very loosely pieced together. Model is very sturdy and joints are not weak. The Astray models are much more flexible than other kinds such as Wing, G, or other Seed models. Whole set comes in a very large box. This is one of the few models that look good without any paint at all because of the detail, also comes with 2 beam sabers, rifle, shield, and the large silver katana. Unpainted model looks EXACTLY like the picture, only without the gold on the sword.

Transformers Cybertron Ultra Defense Red Alert Review

(More customer reviews)After getting blasted by Megatron, Red Alert, along with Hot Shot and Scattorshot are revived by Primus, and are given new forms, and new weapons! They are then sent to Cybertron to get rid of all the Scrapmetal Terrorcons infested on it. Red Alert is really cool. He's now been upgraded two sizes larger to Ultra Class. While still retaining his medic position, (He now can heal anything!), he is now very heavily armored. He's got a missile almost as huge as himself! There is a smaller missile inside it that you can launch via Cyber Key. The big missile is lanchable manually. (As in, you take it off yourself and you hold it in your hand while it flies.) Red Alert still retains his hammer and and claw from the original, (Upgraded, of course. They look better, too.), but instead of being on his hand, Primus healed him and gave him what I call a multi-tool. It can be placed on both arms. Red Alert has two Mini-con ports in both Vehicle and Robot mode. He also has a dual cannon on his leg that can be flipped up. There are sounds too, in the missile. The instructions are pretty good but there are a few things. First, you don't have to remove the multi-tool before moving the arms, and second, the position they show for the multi-tool in the instructions, with the flip-out part on the bottom, is not anime correct, and will sag when the hammer or claw is placed on it. One last little thing that's really cool. The hammer has a spring in it for absorbing impact, or,(This is what I do), CAUSING EARTHQUAKES! Poseability pretty good overall. 5/5 One of the best in the Cybertron series.

Red Alert is, first and foremost, a healer. As Autobot medic, he has never hesitated to rush onto a battlefield under heavy fire to assist an injured comrade. Indeed, there are many Autobots (and even one or two Decepitcons) who owe their lives to him. It is because of his skills as a healer that Optimus Prime handpicks him to be part of the team along with Hot Shot and Scattorshot - to return to Cybertron and cleanse his home world of the Terrorcons infestation. Though he is uncomfortable with the new armor and heavy weapons with which he has been upgraded, he recognizes their necessity, and will not hesitate to engage in battle if his hand is forced.
Requires 2 "AAA" batteries (not included).

Comes with decal sheets and lots of weapons(beam rifle, bazooka, grenades, etc).
Only downside, some of the parts are small and may take extra care in handling to be sure not to lose.
Overall I was pleased with this kit.

(More customer reviews)Bandai has improved the quality of their HG scale models tremendously in this 2 years. The design is so good now the parts join together almost seamlessly and are at very inconspicous places. The range of movement possible has also improved, and I surely have no problem making it to do all the poses I can think of.
The color of the parts are covers most of the color of the model as seen on the cover, so painting is not necessary (for beginners). Their quality of plastic has gone down a little bit though, making modifications (for more experienced players) a little more tricky.

LEGO Mindstorms Black NXT Brick Review

(More customer reviews)There is no doubt that the Lego NXT is an amazing product. I can personally attest it since I have two myself! but this particular model is considerably more expensive than the garden variety and should only be considered for purchase if you're in need of a special/different version of an otherwise exact and same product. Apart from the black color, it's in no way different from the less expensive model that you can get on the Lego Education page, not even considering that it only refers to the programable brick itself, without any other parts, cables or whatsoever. I give it three stars because its only difference from the other NXT brick is it's color and price. You can even forget about that 'special' program: the only really special programm is the one you write yourself. Besides, I'm sure you can later get it on the net for free. Amazing product, but buy the cheaper one!
