Gundam Seed Astray Red Frame Model Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This gundam model is very different, because this is one of the newer gundams, there are many design changes that allow the gundam to be more poseable, such as more flexibility in the arms and legs. This gundam is not marked with a grade, but it seemed to be between HG and MG. The only bad thing about this gundam is that the shoulder guard is not locked together, what i mean is that the front and back guards are very loosely pieced together. Model is very sturdy and joints are not weak. The Astray models are much more flexible than other kinds such as Wing, G, or other Seed models. Whole set comes in a very large box. This is one of the few models that look good without any paint at all because of the detail, also comes with 2 beam sabers, rifle, shield, and the large silver katana. Unpainted model looks EXACTLY like the picture, only without the gold on the sword.

Gundam Seed 10 Gundam Astray Red Frame Scale 1/100 is a beautiful version of the Gundam Astray (red frame) as piloted by Lowe Gule, molded in coloured plastic and featuring snap-fit assembly for ease in building. In 1/100 scale it's got lots of nice detail and is superbly poseable for a kit that's not a Master Grade! Included weapons are the Gerbera Straight (sword; painted in bright silver chrome) and the Beam Rifle. Also included is a 1/20 scale unpainted figure of Lowe Gule. Stickers are included for detail. Ferfect gift for all gundam fan.

Gundam RGZ-91 Re-GZ MG 1/100 Scale Review

(More customer reviews)To shed some light on the enigmatic name of the model kit: Re-GZ stands for Refined Gundam Zeta, which was in turn the titular mech of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. The Refined Gundam Zeta, or "Reg-Zee" as it is often pronounced, makes its appearance in the animated movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack as the main character's first Mobile Suit. (Mobile Suits are giant humanoid machines that are piloted by humans, usually designed for combat.)
Anyway, on to the kit itself. A fairly complex model kit, the RGZ-91 Master Grade took me at least a solid five or more hours to build, and that's without a touch of paint, marker, or any decals. To keep the review short, I'll list the kit's strengths and weaknesses.
Strengths-
-A good, solid, simple transformation between its humanoid Mobile Suit mode and vehicular Wave Rider mode. The transformation is easily done and remains true to the story of Char's Counterattack, the movie from which this kit's subject matter hails.
-All the joints are solid, and will even hold firmly without the use of screws or glue.
-The overall appearance of the kit is extremely accurate to the subject matter.
-The kit is symmetrical, making it ambidextrous.
Weaknesses:
-The main problem this kit seems to have is a common one with earlier Master Grade releases- it has trouble holding its weapons. The hilts of the beam sabers can be problematic when trying to keep them in place, but they fit easily into the hands. The largest problem is with the Re-GZ's beam rifle- the handle of the rifle is shorter than the width of the kit's hand- meaning positioning it can be problematic.
-Although only a minor aesthetic issue, the pegholes for the shield are easily visible on both forearms. This is easily fixed with some modeling putty and some paint.
-The feet, due to the necessity of transformation and the design of the subject matter, are rendered almost completely unable to turn. However, the kit is still very capable of many poses in spite of the inflexibility of its lower extremities.
All in all, the Master Grade (MG) RGZ-91 Re-GZ is a good, solid kit. If you find a good deal on it (Japanese retail value is 4,000 yen) and you're a fan of the movie or subject matter, I highly recommend it.

Gundam GN-001 Gundam Exia MG 1/100 Scale Review

(More customer reviews)Just getting back into the hobby, this is the first MG kit I bought after much debate. I considered the MG Exia, Unicorn, Sword Impulse, and GN-X. I decided to go with the Exia first. That was a great decision.
Couple of pointers with this exact model:
- Make sure you customize the engine core that goes into the chest if you can. Install an LED light so the chest lights up.
- Paints: "Navy Blue" from Tamiya for the blue parts. "Dull Red" from Tamiya for the red parts. "Yellow" from Tamiya for the yellow parts, "Gun metal" for the gray parts, and you can use a Matt white, or just a Matt Top Coat for the white parts.
- When properly painted, it looks sharper, cleaner and more 'durable'/metallic than the original pictures. I'll be posting a pic soon of it.
- Make sure you shadow! The sword parts are NOT shiny like the Ignition model kit, so I used an aluminum coating and airbrushed it on. Looks awesome
Overall a fun kit. Highly recommended, unless you can get your hands on the ignition model.

Gundam 00: Gundam Exia 1/100 Scale Model Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This should be one of the best non-grade 1/100 model kit of Bandai. For me its exact grade is HG or maybe more. Model parts have really good molding and great detail overall. With its good articulation and poseability, you can spend hours with playing for cool poses. It's quality is getting close to MG features for a cheap price.

Sharply molded in color parts, this 1/100-scale, non-grade plastic kit of Gundam Exia can take on a wide range of poses upon completion, thanks to the use of polycaps in its joints. It's fully equipped with its signature weaponry, including a GN sword that can switch to GN sword rifle mode, and be able to be folded shoulder antennas. Not a drop of glue or paint required (although painting will improve the finished results)! A sheet of foil stickers is included for detail along with a joint part for use with Bandai's Action Base 1 to set Gundam Exia in mid-air poses.

Gunseed Hg Freedom Gundam 1/144 Gg Review

(More customer reviews)I had plenty of fun building this model. There were a few things i didn't like about this model though. First off, the way the shield goes on creates a slight problem. As embarrassing as it is, I play with my models every now and then and that involves taking weapons on and off for plot purposes. The shield is clip on and held onto the arm by force. Taking off and putting it on multiple times might break the clip like it did for me. But it was really easy to fix. Some super glue fixed that problem. The second was that how posable the wings and the rail guns were. The rail guns can only move linear according to the wings. So wherever the wings are facing that's which direction the rail guns can move up and down from. So if you have the wings extended fully in it's iconic appearance you can't have it's rail guns on the wings facing forward. Third and finally was the color. The color on this model wasn't that good. I know it's just an HG model but all of my other HG models' colors were really accurate. Freedom's wings are completely blue, there's no black on the top. Rail guns in the wings are completely white. And the rail guns at it's hips were completely light gray blue along with it's gun. It's legs didn't have any colors except at the knee. That can be dealt with using a very fine sharpie.
All in all it was a decent model but nothing too special.

Very sharp, 1/144 scale high-grade injection plastic kit of the Freedom Gundam as seen in the hot new series "Gundam Seed". Shot in coloured plastic, it snaps together with no need for glue or paint (though painting it would greatly enhance the appearance). Polycaps are included for joints; the final product is highly poseable. Included is a bonus booklet from Hobby Japan with instructions (in Japanese) for painting and building the Freedom Gundam.

(More customer reviews)Gundam model kits tend to be flimsy and not nearly as durable as the giant robots they represent. This particular one is the worst I've seen. I've built one other of the HG line and it wasn't nearly as bad. On this one, the forearms have a tendancy to flop all over the place because the elbow joints are so weak. The feet, however, are probably the coolest I've seen on a Gundam. The overall design is interesting, and much more inventive than the rest of the HG line, but it seems they could have spent a little more time testing the durability of the new designs.

(More customer reviews)This was model was very enjoyable to build. It looks amazing completed. Paint is not required to make this baby shine, but some added makes it glow even more. The only problem is that the knee caps aren't the strongest so don't use too much force on them to switch between cannon and gundam form. Also only one beam for the beam sabers is included and it is clear. Other than that I highly recommend this to anybody that is a fan of gundam models or a fan of the series.

Gundam 00 HG 47 GNZ-005 Hiling Care's Garazoo 1/144 Model Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This kit is hands down one of my favorite Gundam kits, even when compared to 1/100 High Grade and Master Grade kits. First of all is it's unique look. It fits with the "Innovator Style" of mobile suits from the Gundam 00 series, and has a comepletely aggresive, in-your-face physical attitude. The kit is molded out of unique colors as well: the red is a deeper, almost maroon, the white is more of a shade of gray. It has multiple hands to accomodate some really nice poses, including a closed fist for the brass knuckles style punch, an open hand for a more flowing action style, and the unit defining finger blades made out of a deep orange colored transluscent plastic. It's feet open and close, true to the 00 series, and the GN field generator on its shoulder opens and closes, although it would look better with a little bit of paint as it is just the same gray color as the shoulder itself. One of the best elements is the visor that slides over the face of the unit, giving it a menacing look. Overall, it can look good next to a Master Grade, and certainly stands out with other 1/144 kits. Its unique look and solid construction make it a very nice addition to any collection.

Gundam FA-78-3 Full Armor Gundam 7th HGUC 1/144 Scale Review

(More customer reviews)I got this kit a few weeks ago and I finally got a change to build it recently. The kit is amazing, this is my first Universal Century kit and before I even finished it i know I want more. The color scheme is the usual for a lead gundam: white(off white), blue, red, yellow and grey. The build as expected was fun just like all the other I've made so far. I has good pose-ability especially since it is one of the new kit. I can only think of two bad things about this kit and there just minor things that don't affect the kit overall. First the ankles are not that pose-able just because of the large foot guard it has (it is the full armor gundam after all). The other thing is that the two beam saber handles don't stay in there holders very well and it doesn't come with any beams too. Besides those things which I mentioned aren't big problems at all, this kit is great and I would recommend this to any one.

Robot Soul Turn A Gundam Review

(More customer reviews)This figure oozes articulation, no surprise considering that Robot Spirits is Bandai's answer to the ever popular Revoltech figure line. Robot Spirits has allowed for some of the more obscure and esoteric Bandai robots to have a moment in the spotlight.
There's really nothing hindering the movement of this figure, it can and will hold any pose you want it to. The knees and elbows are double jointed and every limb and part is on a ball joint. It comes with the standard Gundam accessories: two beam sabers, beam rifle, shield, optional hands. In addition it comes with an open version of the chest (revealing it's missile launchers), clips to store the beam saber hilts to the shoulders, and a damaged version of the thrusters on the back of Gundam's legs. Sadly, it doesn't come with the effect parts to simulate the Turn A's Moonlight Butterfly weapon. However, if you're a fan of Turn A this is hands down the best figure out there.

(More customer reviews)The Robot Damashii line is a great representation of mecha figurines and how they can be used as high-quality merchandise for anime shows. They're sturdy, well-sculpted, well-colored, and well-detailed and accurate representations of the anime mecha.
That said these are best used as display models only. Their multiple articulations and attachments, while made to attach/detach, are not meant for heavy play. I used to own almost all of the original Gundam Wing series figurines, and will forever facepalm for having treated them so poorly...none are worthy of display anymore.
So, especially for the price tag, these (Zangetsu in particular, with its heavy head ponytails) are meant for display. Buy for children at your own risk.

Robot Damashii Gundam 00 Quanta Review

(More customer reviews)I was pretty pessimistic about the 00 Quant[T] because the mobile suit doesn't have much. Turns out, he doesn't need to because this Gundam has alot of supportable poses without a stand and everything about it is well done and nicely constructed. The Quan[T] is definitely a must buy for Gundam collectors and Damashii fans.
The only two problems with this figures is that the right blue part behind his knee tends to fall when the leg is placed in weird positions this will happen around 1-2 times but it also holds in place very well after it, I probably wasn't familiar with the legs but now it doesn't fall off anymore which is like saying it has no problem. The other thing is handle the two small sword bits on top with care, at least the bottom part that holds down the larger parts because they tend to pop and fly off when you try to make a GN buster sword or GN sword blaster mode, so attach the bits slowly and delicately.
Quan[T] comes with a lot of hands for various poses, gn shield that should be attached to the back of the gundam which also carries the bits with it, another gn sword that was meant for GN Blaster mode which is very easy to put in place, the regular gn sword can change into a buster sword mode by attaching all the bits if done properly. There's also a bit stand at the box of the plastic holding these items for with an addition to two beam fires for the bits for funnel action!
Quan[T] has a flawless paint job and is very durable and in fact and can handle movement so you don't need to feel delicate about moving hime around. However, damashiis are a pricey figure so if you're the ones who prefer to play with them handle it with care. He has a tremendous amount of poses and the articulation is very fluid and excellent, what I find amazing is that his legs have double joints, one on the knee and another on the green orbs around his legs.
Truly an amazing figure, it's my favorite second to Damashii Sinanju.

Gundam 00: Raiser + GN Sword III 1/144 Scale Model HG 00-54 Review

(More customer reviews)This is a very nice model that will take hours to finish for an amateur like me.
Pros: The actual toy looks exactly the same as seen in the photos. The stickers are cool especially around the head, arms and legs that shows tiny logos. It looks very futuristic. Out of the 4 main models from the series, this one has the most flexible legs and can easily stand on its own even with the Raiser attached. The swords/ guns have different configurations that you can let your imagination go wild and pose this model in different ways. The 0 Raiser attachment is an excellent support pack. It adds more configurations and you can literally make your own styles.
Cons: The clear plastic components for the temporal side of the head are difficult to attach. I need a small long nose pliers to cut off the excess. I actually don't have one so I didn't attached these. There's no real harm because I can always attached these small parts after. I just basically kept them in the box. There's no other con really.
I have the other 3 Gundam models from the same series. This is definitely the coolest.

Robot Damashii Arbalest Review

Bandai continues their top quality line of Robot Damashii (Robot Spirits) figures with this beautiful toy of the Arbalest ARX-7 Arm Slave, a particularly powerful mecha from the anime Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic 2nd Raid.
If you watch the review I listed as required viewing (from YouTube member "Actar576295"), there's really not much more to say. Overall, this toy is well worth the money if you love mecha, or love Full Metal Panic, or just want a really friggin' cool toy and have the disposable income.
If I had the money, I would buy every new Arbalest out there. With that being said, there are two very minor complaints, but they bug me. The first is the sheath for the knife keeps wants to fall off the toy from where you peg it in on the thigh if you keep bumping it with your fingers; and if you're playing with it, it's impossible not to. The other is for the life of me, I cannot get it to pose in the kneeling position as shown on the back of the box. The other is the accessories can jump around inside the plastic that holds them; if you think something is missing, take the plastic halves apart and look, it may have just shifted somewhere difficult to see: the smallest knife shifted to beneath the gun on mine.
So far, I consider the Arbalest ARX-7 to be the most worthy entry into my tiny giant robot army. It is a real shame that these are not mainstream toys here in the States, because they really are exceptional.
