Transformers Movie RoboVision Optimus Prime Review

(More customer reviews)Currently, there are two versions of Optimus Prime available: The Voyager class, and Leader class. The "Robovision Optimus Prime" happens to be a metallic repaint of the voyager class figure, and was sold exclusively at Target for $19.99. In robot mode, Robivison Prime stands at 8 inches in height, as compared to the 12 inch Leader figure.
But, size is not the only thing separating these figures, as transformations are completely different. For Leader prime, the front grill in truck mode, converts to the bottom parts of the robot's feet. The robot feet in Robovison Prime, are tucked away behind the truck's cab. Also, the smoke stacks in Robovision can convert into laser rifles - a feature that isn't available in the Leader class.
As for design, I would say that the Robovision Prime seems more accurate of a representation to the movie character, in robot mode. Much of the bulk in the leader class version, has been trimmed down in Robovision Prime, producing a more streamlined figure. Also, Robovision prime has light piping in the eyes. Just place the figure below any strong light source (a bulb), and the eyes will light up. This also, isn't available in the Leader version.
However, because of Robovision Prime's smaller scale, much of the articulation that is found in the Leader version has been sacrificed. Individual fingers are unable to move, and the legs don't pose very well. Also, while the leader figure is bulkier, the transformation in that figure from truck-to-robot mode, seems to be more accurate to the movie character, as compared to Robovision Prime.
*Just a note that I didn't contradict myself: Robovision Prime has a more accurate look in robot mode, while Leader Prime has a more accurate transformation sequence.
All in all, despite some problems, Robovision Prime is definitely worth the buy, that is, if you can find it in Target. I won't recommend buying this toy at online vendors, since a lot of sellers seem to practice price gouging where this toy is concerned. An online price of $45 online is just ridiculous.
Robovision Prime was produced in limited quantity, which makes it great for collectors. Also, since this is a collector's toy, I certainly would not recommend it for children. Instead, get the "cyber stomping Optimus Prime" for the wee ones.

Transformers Movie 2 Voyager - DEFENDER OPTIMUS PRIME Review

How does Hasbro attempt to make yet another release of the same Optimus Prime voyager mold interesting? They paint the big boy blue and gray and give him a new arch rival - the new stealth fighter decepticon Transformers Movie 2 Voyager - MINDWIPE.
Other than the new N.E.S.T. background info hyping the struggle with his new psychic foe, there isn't anything fresh with this incarnation of Optimus. Snazzy black smokestacks second as powerful cannons to take out aerial attacks. There is also a silver cowboy in the driver seat that mysteriously has no hands.
As with every other voyager movie Optimus Prime toy, the vehicle mode is more accurate than the robot. It feels solid as a truck and it actually rolls which is never a given with the newer toys. Personally I like the paint scheme which is similar to the leader class Transformers Nightwatch Optimus Prime except the blue is darker and there are reddish flames on the front. I would have liked it a bit better if the whole truck was blue with silver flames.
The robot mode is not bad looking, but it isn't very accurate to what you see in the films. The often maligned "backpack syndrome" returns(where the front of the truck swings around in transformation to hang off the back of the figure). The actual transforming is fairly painless and while it still suffers from that fragile feeling... it's still more secure than some of the other voyagers such as Transformers Movie Voyager Blackout with Scorponok.
If you are an Optimus Prime completest, then by all means pick this guy up. If you already have the previous voyagers and are looking for something new... then you may want to pass. At less than half the price of the leader class toys the Defender Optimus Prime is at least half as much fun.

Transformers Cybertron Voyager Vector Prime with Safeguard Review

(More customer reviews)Overview: A unique-looking spaceship transforms into an impressive and highly posable robot. Vector Prime is highly original in both modes, and even includes a very impressive mini-con, which is also beautiful in both modes.
Robot Mode: Vector Prime is well-proportioned, has enough articulation to assume any number of impressive poses, and dons a very detailed and expressive face that's difficult to forget. My only regret with this mode is that the hand is too small to properly hold the sword. It dangles and falls out easily.
Vehicle Mode: This mode is simply stunning. The designers have completely reinvented the common Star-Trek inspired perceptions of a starship. This vehicle is sleek and elegant, yet very alien-looking. The solar sails on each side are an excellent sci-fi touch, and the mini-con station allows the mini-con shuttle to fire its weapons forward and launch on a moment's notice. It's clear that a tremendous amount of thought went into the design of this vehicle, which is why I find it regrettable that the vehicle is shrunk down to such a small size scale while Starscream (a single pilot fighter as opposed to a full starship) is 3x its size and possesses far less detail in both modes.
Transformation: Easy to do. Of particular interest is the fact that Prime can "hide" his sword in vehicle mode. An impressive solution to having it magically appear when he transforms.
To Conclude: This is a very high quality Transformer, and definitely worth purchasing. Some have argued that the Japanese version, which has a faded gray exterior instead of a pure white one, looks more like a worn, metallic interstellar battleship, but I find nothing unappealing about the colors of the American version. B+

Having the sword become part of the fore-wing makes a toy where all the parts can stay together regardless of form. Plus, this robot is stidy and stands stable in robot form. Plus, it includes a minicon that transforms into a gun, adding to play value. If you did not get the original paint job for Vector Prime, or even if you did, you sould consider getting this one.

Transformers Movie Voyager Ironhide Review

(More customer reviews)After being a fan of Transformers when I was younger, I had to go out and get at least one of the new toys for the movie. (Although I'm 28 years old). Let me just say that first of all I am very impressed. Although transforming this thing from truck to robot and back almost took the better part of an hour for the first time, the look and feel of the finished transformed product is amazing. Although some of the other Transformers seem a little top heavy in robot mode, Ironhide has large feet making him pretty easy to stand up. He also looks awesome in robot mode, with a ton of detail... and the black color makes it very attractive, especially to the older crowd. While in truck mode (and it seems very difficult to get these things back into vehicle mode) the toy actually seems very "playable" with all of the many moving parts snapping back into place nicely to form a solid truck. It it actually looks like a normal toy truck... the engineering that went into this is genius. However, like I said, I don't think this thing was made for kids. With so many little moving parts, twisting and turning and snapping and folding and clicking, something is bound to break if this guy is overhandled. And I also remember the days that you could pick up a Transformer and figure out how to transform it on your own... GOOD LUCK. Even with the instructions right in my face it took a good deal of time to get him from truck to robot and back. After carefully reviewing all of the toys in the store, what they looked like in both forms, I would say Ironhide would have to be my favorite, and I am not dissapointed in the least. He looks awesome.

Paint scarred and chrome chipped by shrapnel from a hundred battles, he is the oldest of the Autobots. His right hip is a mass of bypases and temporary solutions, his power core and timing system are irregular and his idle is set way too high; but his optics are the sharpest on Cybertron, and his cannon arm is as steady as ever. Transformers Voyager Classic Megatron Figure Review

(More customer reviews)Well, "Transformers Classics" has arrived, and in its clever reimagining of classic Generation One characters with modern toy-making technology, it achieves something that has not been accomplished in the Transformers brand since 1984. Yep, that's right, the leader of the evil Decepticons is once more a handgun. A futuristic Nerf-looking handgun lacking any die-cast parts, mind you, but a gun nonetheless. Since regulations surrounding the manufacture of toy guns went all parental back in the mid-'80s, ol' Megs has been shuffled from a gun to a space cannon (G1 Galvatron), a tank (G2), a jet (Machine Wars), a reptile (Beast Wars), a dragon-man (Beast Machines), a something-or-other that changes into anywhere from six to ten different things depending on whether he's Megatron or Galvatron (Robots In Disguise), another tank (Armada), a gunship (Energon), a race car (Cybertron), and some weird alien fighter-craft-thing (the upcoming live-action movie). But now things are full circle, and Megatron once more has that nasty black fusion cannon astride his right forearm, like a fond reunion with a trusted old friend.
Now with all the nostalgia that Hasbro has pumped into the appeal of this line, there is a noticeable trade-off in Megatron's case. Manufacturing capability now allows for toys of G1 characters that enable them to greatly resemble their cartoon/comic counterparts, which is a far cry from the original G1 toy line. This Megatron's robot mode sports about as much resemblance to the cartoon/comic design model as the G1 toy did, but the difference here is that this new design lends itself much better to its transformation.
The transformation is average in terms of complexity as compared to all the other newer TF toy lines. It takes some practice to get down, but that is achieveable. The green on this figure's color scheme also takes a bit of getting used to, but it does have its benefits in terms of a tried-and-true action figure gimmick neatly incorporated into this line: light-piped eyes. Granted, a more nostalgic TF fan/collector would probably have preferred red eyes to match the character's animated incarnation (and modern comic versions), and this figure lacks the rubsign that the others in this line sport.
Apart from that, the only weakness in the figure is the flimsiness of its 'wings' after a couple transformations. This is typical of Transformers of such a design (usually referred to as "shellformers").
In closing: Classics Megatron is a great toy that offers both the proper sense of respect for the character's G1 roots and yet provides something with genuine play value, which is more than can be said for TF lines like Alternators.

This didn't stop him from playing with it though. He still loves it anyway. Overall a great toy but I wish I hadn't payed 30 bucks for it. I would be happier had I only payed 15-20 bucks.

Transformers Movie Voyager Autobot Ratchet Review

(More customer reviews)This is easily one of the best movie version Transformer figures. First, the durability is well above most of the other figures. After some figures with poor durability and design (Blackout, Brawl, Bumblebee), I've been very impressed with this figure. If there's only one toy to get a kid, this one probably has the best chance of survival.Second, the transformation is relatively straightforward. Unlike some of the others, whose transformations rival the complexity of the more mature "Alternators" line, this one seems well suited for kids.Finally, this is a very posable figure. It'll easily stand securely upright, even in odd poses. The articulation and balance are excellent.All I can really criticize is the nasty green color and the looseness of the roof rack attachment. There's also the blocky "preschool toy" feel of the design, but that's part of what I think makes it so durable and suited for kids. But those are minor points.

Transformers Movie Voyager Thundercracker Review

(More customer reviews)This transformer is a remold of Starscream. Thundercracker is very complicated to transform and it took a while to memorize how to do it. His missiles launch too easily and constantly fire while transforming. This is probably because rotating the barrel will fire the missiles. I find it funny how he has "bird feet" which helps his posing. He has a very obvious automorphing feature, pushing up his cockpit moves his whole wing section into his body, exposing the gray part of his chest.

Transformers Voyager Demolisher Review

(More customer reviews)I went to TOYS R US today and I saw the transformers ROTF display up and I picked up DEMOLISHER. When I got back in the car I transformed him. I thought it was pretty neat. I think he looks cool in vehicle and robot mode. Only one part has fallen off and it was easy to put back on. Its wheel even moves in robot mode. His arms kind of help him stand up. I would really recommend it!

DEMOLISHOR isn't very bright, but he knows when to fight, and when to run and hide. Arriving on Earth to find MEGATRON destroyed, hiding seemed like the best option. Since then, he's taken a few smaller DECEPTICONS under his protection, and built quite a little community. It hasn't been easy, hiding among the humans that creep like a disease over this planet, but he and his companions are content to wait until a new DECEPTICON leader emerges to guide them back to glory.

Transformers Animated Voyager Starscream Review

(More customer reviews)I picked up the Transformers Animated Starscream toy as a desk ornament, mostly. With the overall quality of most of the other toys in the series, I figured they would certainly do a good job with one of the most popular characters in the series. I was quite wrong, apparently.
First I will cover the good points, as few as there are. The toy looks decent in robot mode. He stands well and is properly balanced with stable joints in the legs. He has the standard spring loaded rocket launcher type weapons on his arms that seems to work well. Those are pretty much all the positives I can think of.
On the negative side, it's hard to tell where to begin. The toy suffers from the now-common Hasbro paint and mold flaws. The coloration is somewhat ugly with the nasty shade of blue they used for the base plastic, and the bad shade of maroon for the details doesn't help. There are various bad joints with random loose areas in the arms and swivel joints halfway down his thighs that pop out way too easily. The most glaringly awful mold problem is with the hands, which suffer from fingers and thumbs that pop out way too easily and really don't pose into much of anything decent.
The auto-trasform function is a mess. It doesn't work right and you still have to push in or pull out parts that are supposed to move into position on their own, such as the nosecone part. Don't worry, this won't last long. Eventually, the entire mechanism will break and you will have to push and pull all the parts into place. By "eventually", I mean after you transform him back and forth twice, if you are lucky.
For such an overly complicated transformation,you would think the jet mode would look decent. Instead it looks okay at best from above and looks like a horrible mess on the underside. There is a single landing gear wheel that doesn't really do much to support the jet when it's "landed", which results in more of a "crashed into the ground" or "sitting on a clump of garbage" look when it's sitting on the shelf. The launchers that form the arm cannons are a large part of the problem. They are too big and end up shoved under the jet so awkwardly that they don't sit right. On top of this, the show has them on the wings and not on the bottom of the jet. This part of the toy would have worked a lot better if they had just used detachable launchers that attached to his arms in robot mode and wings in jet mode.
All in all, this is a terrible toy that seems like something that was done last-minute without the necessary testing and correction needed. It's definately the dark blot on the first series of Transformers Animated toys.

(More customer reviews)The color scheme is wrong as well as the fighter mode, the fusion cannon should be on the front like in the pilot of the show. And the cannonis a bit flimsy, and while it came sort of unstable in the box it is (i find) very stable when i transform it to either robot or fighter mode. you just need to make sure the pieces that are supposed to connect to make it stable are conected right. Aside from the wrong colors and the fighter mode being inacurate, it is an excellent figure and an excellent addition to any collection.

(More customer reviews)Let's just say this version of payload is the best one that they have done.It is basically a Long Haul figure repainted.The transformation is the same as are the features.However I think the color scheme is a very cool and unique combination.The swords show up alot better being red instead of clear and is very durable.The transformation level on Payload is advanced meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is minor difficulty.If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 or younger you might have to help some. The legs are the trickiest part when transforming.They fold under and up,but with some patience it's not a problem.Payload goes great right along side all the other constructicons.This is a great transformer to have in your collection,after all I'm sure Long Haul would love to have a brother to help him out.Bottom line Payload Rocks!!!

Transformers Animated Voyager - Blitzwing Review

(More customer reviews)Here we have Blitzwing, the first Triple Changer within the Animated toy line. Out of all the Animated figures I've bought so far, this one has impressed me the most, and I'll tell you why:
Firstly, as with ALL of the Animated toy line, his colors are wonderfully realized. They're spot on representations of the show colors. I certainly applaud Hasbro for this, since their color work on previous show toy lines has been dubious at best. The same goes for the build, model, and sculpting of the toy. It might as well have just clawed it's way out of the TV, and sat itself on my shelf. Hasbro's R&D departments have really mastered the TV-to-Toy jump this time around.
Second, His joints are actually really solid, sturdy, and overall stiff. This just about blew my mind, considering my other animated figures are plagued with absurdly loose, floppy joints right out of the box. I was pleased to find Blitzwing so dang sturdy. He takes just that right amount of force to move, pose, etc, and he stands with stability. Furthermore, because he does have the extremely robust joint systems that all the animated figures have, he's able to assume some pretty expressive poses.
Lastly, his human and tank modes are really nice. (His Plane mode is okay - we'll get back to that) The tank is a great futuristic looking thing, with lots of little details, and excellent part fit. It's a solid, paperweight-like tank mode. As stated before, his human mode has a lot of expression due to his well implemented joints. He's also nice and tall. The face turning gimmick is cute, and I like the tiny little nods to German military uniforms that you find his his helmet, shoulders, etc.
Of course, there are some minor quibbles too:
First, his plane mode, while nice and heavy, is a little strange looking. His giant tank treads don't really have anywhere to go, and they look pretty awkward on the plane. Plus the part fit is less sturdy in plane mode. GRANTED, it does look just like the TV show, so I guess this is more a complaint on the character design, and less on the toy itself.
Second, he has no real accessories to speak of. In fact, his back guns can't even be brought forward while in his human mode. What this means is you better be willing to take full advantage of his expressive joints, cuz he's got nothing else to work with. Oh how I wish he came with a gun, sword, stick, cocktail glass, book, or SOMETHING to hold! His hands aren't even ABLE to hold things, which makes matters even worse..... I eventually settled on a saluting-hand-on-hip pose..... *sigh*
Third, his wings are connected to his shoulders, not his back. They also are not able to fold away, which means they will CONSTANTLY find themselves getting in the way of the arms. Some clever posing can solve this problem, but they'll always sorta be there......
Still, by far and away this is the most enjoyable, nicely built, well conceived toy so far that I've come across in the Animated series (though that Ulta Magnus is looking keen......). Feel free to jump all over Blitzwing when you see him at a store. You won't be disappointed.
