Transformers Deluxe Classic Starscream Review

(More customer reviews)My first ever Transformer was Starscream (Christmas 1984). I am pleased to say that this Starscream is a nice homage. In robot mode Starscream has some stability issues, but the legs have nice posibility. The main problems with robot mode is that there is no good way to place the wings so they don't interfere in his robot mode, and the airplane tip could have been hidden better.
In jet mode Starscream looks just like an actual F-15, which was the same jet that the original Starscream was based on. My only complaints is that the figure could use some better coloring, and there should have been landing wheels on the bottom. An opening cockpit like the original would have worked wonders.
His "null cannons" can be posted on his arms, like the original toy, or can be put in his fists like regular guns while in robot mode. The cannons attach to the underside of the wings. The missles can launch 3-4 feet away, but need to stay on to look like the original.
The transformation can be begun from several locations, and is of perfect compelxity, and homages to the original's transformations.
All in all, recommended.

Transformers Deluxe Classic Rodimus Review

(More customer reviews)With the original Transformers The Movie being released again in a few weeks and with another brand new movie to follow, new and old fans alike are delighting at seeing some cool new Transformers action figures on store shelves just in time for Christmas.
Hasbro is wrapping up the Cybertron toy line and needed some new figures to release until next July when the new movie premieres. Their answer was to create a line called "Transformers Classics" which features exciting new molds of many classic Transformers characters that first appeared in the 1980's. I know a lot of us who grew up with and collected the toys of those characters are pretty excited to see them reappear on store shelves. It's a great chance for us to relive our memories and to also share them with the children that are now in our lives.
Having said that, meet RODIMUS. He has gone by many names over the years, including Hot Rod, Rodimus Prime and Rodimus Major, and even had a similar character loosely based on him in the Energon toy line, but whatever you want to call him, he's one of the more well known figures of Transformers lore. An old school Transformers fan like myself can quickly tell this figure was based off of the original 1986 toy which was known as "Hot Rod". Of course, Hasbro no longer has the name "Hot Rod" copyrighted so Rodimus is the next best thing.
I always like the Hot Rod/Rodimus character because I saw a lot of myself in him. He was young and bold and a bit reckless at times, but deep down all he wanted was a chance to prove himself. I think a lot of us can indentify with that.
As for this toy, it obviously takes a lot of its design from the original, especially the futuristic car form. There are a few differences but not a lot. The robot form is also somewhat similar to the original, but a little more streamlined. One cool addition to this toy is a missile launcher which will actually fire a missile in both car and robot mode. In car mode, the launcher doubles as a tailpipe, giving new meaning to the term "backfiring".
As far as difficulty of transformation, it's actually rather easy compared to many Transformers. The instructions they give you aren't the best, but once you change him back and forth once or twice, you'll see that he is actually much easier to transform than the majority of Cybertron figures and also classic Transformers.
I would definitely vouch for this toy on a few levels. $9.99 isn't a bad price at all, especially when you consider that to find the original in any kimd of decent shape would cost you at least 3 times as much. There has been a re-issued version of the original but it too has become rare and again, is near impossible to find under $30. This toy is also quite fun. I mean, who wouldn't want to drive a futuristic red race car with orange flames on the hood? Of course, for us "old timers", there's massive sentimental value as well.
My advice is to pick this up while you can as I fully expect them to fly off the shelves.

Cosmojetz - Wind-Up Hopping Desk Sculpture Review

(More customer reviews)These little gear box wind-up toys (you can see all of the action - the toy has an "open" build) are soooo much fun. My son and I found these toys by Kikkerland while on vacation, and I decided to purchase them from Amazon. Cosmojetz is THE most active of all the Kikkerland gearbox toys, and boy is it exciting to watch! Wind it up and the little guy bounces everywhere! Don't set it near the end of a table or desk, or he may fall off and break. All of the keys and feet differ between the Kikkerland gear box toys, so you never know what you'll get - our Cosmojetz had red feet, others had white and black. Almost entirely metal parts, these toys will last forever if you/your child do not abuse them (e.g., drop, smash, etc.)
I bought a "Cranky" for my own desk and the Cosmojetz and the Awika for my 8 y.o. son, and they've been a big success! I only recommend these toys for responsible children who do not beat up or abuse their toys. These are not Mattel or Playskool toys, but are they cool and fun? Yep, way more unusual and cool than your average toy. Recommended!

Transformers Deluxe Classic Ramjet Review

(More customer reviews)Out of all the new Transformers I have gotten for my kids (and myself), Ramjet not only looks great, but is the sturdiest of the new line that I've come across. Now that Transformers are being made with "break away" appendages to keep them from being "damaged" if forced beyond their limits, I find that most of them simply fall apart too easily. Ramjat, however, holds together nicely.

Transformers Deluxe Classic Mirage Review

(More customer reviews)This figure may not look like it from online photos or by the fact that it hangs from the pegs in most retailers, but Mirage is one of the best Classics figures. The robot mode is incredibly poseable and just doesn't receive justice from the photos. The alt mode is well done and stays pretty faithful to F1 and other open wheel racers. A definite buy for collectors and kids, you won't be disappointed.

The Classics Mirage incorporates elements of both the Gen 1 and the Dreamwave versions. Though lacking the shoulder-mounted weapon, his sleek vehicle mode creates the basis for an impressive, slightly nonlinear robot mode. He appears to be nimble and well-articulated. The front airfoil detaches and serves the robot mode as a crossbow-shaped electro disrupter.Mirageâ?TMs character profile lists him as a counterpart to Bumblebee in an Autobot spy team, although it specifies that Mirage prefers sabotage to intelligence work. Mirage is cited for a rogue sense of humor with a simultaneous sense of unbreakable loyalty. His electro disputer assists him with the abilities to achieve invisibility and manufacture illusions.

Forbidden Planet Robby the Robot Model Kit Review

(More customer reviews)The item for sale here is Polar Lights kit #5025, Original sculpt kit, premiere release, and this box was on the market in 1999. If someone is selling it here new, it is from unsold stock, and very rare. Nice kit, comes with paper instruction, all parts, and ready to be painted. It has some parts that are already chromed. As finished it is 8 1/2" in height. Robby is from the 1956 movie "Forbidden Planet". There is a newer version of this robot in a model kit released recently, but I prefer this classic style look and box and am glad you can still find it at Amazon.

Transformers Voyager Classic Megatron Figure Review

(More customer reviews)Well, "Transformers Classics" has arrived, and in its clever reimagining of classic Generation One characters with modern toy-making technology, it achieves something that has not been accomplished in the Transformers brand since 1984. Yep, that's right, the leader of the evil Decepticons is once more a handgun. A futuristic Nerf-looking handgun lacking any die-cast parts, mind you, but a gun nonetheless. Since regulations surrounding the manufacture of toy guns went all parental back in the mid-'80s, ol' Megs has been shuffled from a gun to a space cannon (G1 Galvatron), a tank (G2), a jet (Machine Wars), a reptile (Beast Wars), a dragon-man (Beast Machines), a something-or-other that changes into anywhere from six to ten different things depending on whether he's Megatron or Galvatron (Robots In Disguise), another tank (Armada), a gunship (Energon), a race car (Cybertron), and some weird alien fighter-craft-thing (the upcoming live-action movie). But now things are full circle, and Megatron once more has that nasty black fusion cannon astride his right forearm, like a fond reunion with a trusted old friend.
Now with all the nostalgia that Hasbro has pumped into the appeal of this line, there is a noticeable trade-off in Megatron's case. Manufacturing capability now allows for toys of G1 characters that enable them to greatly resemble their cartoon/comic counterparts, which is a far cry from the original G1 toy line. This Megatron's robot mode sports about as much resemblance to the cartoon/comic design model as the G1 toy did, but the difference here is that this new design lends itself much better to its transformation.
The transformation is average in terms of complexity as compared to all the other newer TF toy lines. It takes some practice to get down, but that is achieveable. The green on this figure's color scheme also takes a bit of getting used to, but it does have its benefits in terms of a tried-and-true action figure gimmick neatly incorporated into this line: light-piped eyes. Granted, a more nostalgic TF fan/collector would probably have preferred red eyes to match the character's animated incarnation (and modern comic versions), and this figure lacks the rubsign that the others in this line sport.
Apart from that, the only weakness in the figure is the flimsiness of its 'wings' after a couple transformations. This is typical of Transformers of such a design (usually referred to as "shellformers").
In closing: Classics Megatron is a great toy that offers both the proper sense of respect for the character's G1 roots and yet provides something with genuine play value, which is more than can be said for TF lines like Alternators.

Transformers Deluxe Classic Bumblebee Figure Review

(More customer reviews)While this is not the greatest version of Bumblebee of all time (that goes to the Pretender version), this is still a nice toy. No longer allowed to be a VW Bug due to Volkwagen refusing their cars to be "war toys", this Bumblebee is a composite of various compact/cruiser cars. The transformation is OK, although there is no way great to sort the "kibble" of the toy, as the doors and hood sections of car mode detract from the robot mode. As a nice touch, the vintage heat-sensitive stickers, originally to prove that a transforming robot was an actual Transformer brand toy, returns and is place exactly where it should on the robot; the chest. If the doors are swung out of the way, Bumblebee can attach minicons onto his forearms.
Bumblebee does not have a weapon, but does come with a "jet pack", which transforms into a jet ski on a trailer for the car mode. Note that one joint on the jet pack is quite stiff and one of the sides will keep falling off due to trying to convert the jet pack to its jet ski trailer mode. You might want to take a scerwdriver to loosen it.
If you don't like yellow transformers, you can wait for the upcoming Cliffjumper figure which have a similar mode to Bumblebee, but will be red and released in February 2007. Otherwise, this will definitely be a great addition to your Transformers collection.

(More customer reviews)You can always trust for there to be emergency vehicle Autobot, and now they have come to us as Mini-Cons.
The fire truck, FIREBOT, is the best of the three. It's not hard to transform, as long as you remember that what the hoses are attached to are the arms and they need to be pulled out before you do anything else to transform the bot. For a Mini-Con it has nice poseability in robot mode, especially in that you can move the hoses/guns to different positions.
STRONGARM is a brick that poses as a police car, and is very hard to transform. There is nothing intuitive about the transformation, and you'd better have a mini-flathead screwdriver handy to pry open parts, and hope that you are prying the right places. Even if you get it into robot mode, it is nothing special.
DIVEBOMB is the helicopter. The piece under the canopy will always be falling off the main robot. The transformation is an "interesting" experience, having to manage transforming everything at once with its legs and arms, and in robot you have the main copter blade being a beanie.
They tried too hard to make inventive transformations, and the robots suffered for it. If it wasn't that I like emergency vehicle Transformers, I would have probably rated it a 2.

Intending to flesh out the Classics continuity, the Mini-Con Night Rescue Team carry an overall Defensor semblance---and are most likely able to apply their rescue techniques during the day as well as night. Strongarm is the police vehicle, stout and durable as a robot. Divebomb is the helicopter, with an extremely nonlinear robot mode. Firebot (a name once allotted to one of the Playskool Go-Bots) is the fire truck, with heavy shoulder plates and arm-mounted cannons.The character description for the Night Rescue Team cites the youthful disposition of the three Mini-Cons and the inherit fearlessness that comes from their inexperience. Theyâ?TMre known for headlong dashes into the heart of danger, dutifully going that extra mile to get the job done. Putting the T-E-A-M in â??teamâ?TM. Going for the gold. Giving 150%. Doing it their way or no way at all.

Zecar Mechanical Kid's Flywheel Toy Car Robot New Review

(More customer reviews)I got two of these for my 5 year old and my 21 month old. They loved them. This isn't the fastest car out there but it just keeps rolling and rolling at it's on steady pace. The girls were fascinated by the gears. Great stocking stuffer. My husband enjoyed the cars almost as much as the girls. A great way for them to bond.

Pintacuda Windup Review

(More customer reviews)I bought several different windup toys at once. When I got them, I noticed they had a size difference. Pintacuda is the biggest. The drawback of being big is that it takes more energy to make it move and sustain its motion. The time I spend on winding it up is more than the time I can enjoy watching it dance. But still it's a bundle of fun and sets my desk apart from those boring ones of my coworkers.
Pintacuda I got is wearing black shoes. I wish they had sent me one like in the picture.

Awika Wind Up (Colors May Vary) Review

(More customer reviews)I found this via the Kikkerland site a few years ago, and finally got one for my 5-yr-old daughter this Christmas. She loves it - it's silly, and it cracks her up (would not recommend it for a younger kid, though, because of the winding - you don't want to overwind, or wind backwards!). It was smaller than expected, and it does get gummed up from time to time (pet hair, etc.), but overall this is a cool little doo-dad. I'd love to have the whole set, if they were less expensive. Maybe one for every gift-giving occasion. See the Kikkerland site for very funny video demos (set to music).

Awika is stainless steel with PVC feet. She sparks and climbs over small objects when you wind her up! At only 4 inches long, there is never a dull moment! Test it with different small objects on your desk to challene it up and down barrieres. You can also let it climb over your hand, an open book, or, whatever elso is on your desk.

Kikkerland Sparklz Wind Up Gear Box Review

(More customer reviews)The Kikkerland wind-up toys are reminiscent of the vintage Japanese wind-up toys of days gone by. Adults and children alike enjoy watching them spin around and/or crawl. The designs are even more fun and make all of the toys suitable for display. They really have an artistic feel to them. All of the visible moving parts make them fascinating.
This particular toy, SPARKLZ, was my son's first and favorite Kikkerland. The large over-sized windup key is cool. And, to watch the metal band get tighter and tighter as you wind it is intriguing.
When the toy is released, it runs around in circles, fast and crazy. The big bonus is the sparks that shoot off when the toy is in action. While some of the toys are almost too fast and some are a bit slow, this one is JUST right!
