(More customer reviews)Don't pay full retail for this. Get it on sale if you can, it's not worth $70-$80. For some dumb reason I thought I was getting the more impressive, more expensive Buzz robot when I opted to sleep in the Toys R Us parking lot on Black Friday Eve waiting to be the first in line. I managed to get it for 50% off and was pleased with my purchase until my son started playing with it on his birthday. We have carpet throughout our house with a few small, flat flooring areas. Of course you can't use Buzz on carpets so play is limited for us inside the house. We decided to take Buzz outside for a go on the basketball court accross the street at the park. Buzz does ok on the cement if it is not too rough - just don't let him hit a crack and fall over forward or it will scratch the front sensor for the remote control. The biggest problem we had outside was that he is not really made or outdoor play and you have to stand very close to him or the remote control does not work.
I think my biggest complaint is that this Buzz just moves his arms, rolls around, and says phrases (of course the Spanish mode is a plus). When I had Googled "Buz Lightyear Ucommand robot" I found a few reviews and one made this toy sound pretty amazing. After playing with it for a while and a bit more internet research I realized that the review I had read was for the more expensive robot. I think the toy in the review was mistakenly misnamed (or maybe it was on purpose). Don't get confused, this is not the Buzz that understands voice commands or changes from thinking he's a Space Ranger to knowing he's a toy - that's the other one. Overall, my 5 year-old son is happy with this Buzz which is what matters. Maybe I should have saved my money and spent the $150 for the way overpriced, yet infinitely more impressive Buzz by Thinkway. Oh well.
