This toy is very unique. Though we did have some problems with it at first, we changed the batteries and it worked! This toy can "dance", wave, and can even guard your door! It doesn't work well on the carpet. It has a very helpful instruction book, which tells you what all the buttons do in detail.

National Geographic™ Remote Control Green Mamba Snake Review

National Geographicand#153; Remote Control Green Mamba Snake

Unfortunately, the snake only works on very smooth surfaces...think roller rink or gymnasium. We are only able to use it in our bathroom, and even then, it sometimes stops when it rolls over a crack in the tile. It also turns only very slightly. Though it is cute, and my 8-year-old daughter likes it anyway (hence the 3 stars for fun), be warned. Most kids will get frustrated and it will collect dust.

Ecotronics Mr. Robot Head Review

Ecotronics Mr. Robot Head

This is a cute idea, and works as advertised. If you have every played the game "Operation" it is the same idea. You try to move a looped wand along the curled wire without touching. You touch, and lights flash and it plays a series of tones. It is a lot harder than it looks, so this really would only be appropriate for kids over 10. However, anyone over that age will probably get bored after 5- 10 minutes. The game is pretty big - a 6" plastic cube with the wire" hair extend 4" out of the top. No real educational value, unless you want to provide it. The enviornmental claims are pretty bogus - it comes in recycled packaging and doesnt need a battery. It is made in China from plastic and with electronic parts inside it.

OWI Kabuto Mushi Robot Kit Review

OWI Kabuto Mushi Robot Kit
Average Reviews:

This is a very nice robot kit with a wonderful IR controller. You can select any one of eight channels to operate on, so you could run eight different robots simultaneously. Never seen that anywhere else! The two drive gearboxes have 3 speeds that can be easily selected for different uses. The instructions are pretty clear, and all the parts are grouped in smaller bags that are used in order of assembly. No soldering, but there are lots of parts; don't mix them up. Dad should plan to help anyone under 13 years old.
My two complaints are:
1) Each plastic motor module has two press-in metal bushings that fall out unless you super-glue them in. They are supposed to be a one-time press-fit, but there's no way they will stay in by themselves. Use superglue BEFORE adding grease and avoid this problem altogether.
2) The clutches on the claw lifter and claw closer modules slip far too easily; you can't pick up anything interesting as delivered. I added a few small washers to compress the clutch springs fully and finally I can pick up a few ounces satisfactorily. It won't pick up a full soda can, so you'll still be walking to the kitchen for your drink.
After these mods, a great remote-controlled robot. Even in spite of that wonderfully odd name, Kabuto Mushi. How about Robot Claw Tank instead?
