(More customer reviews)This is one neat-o little guy. I always liked the design of the regular Brakedown figure, but didn't care for the clear plastic wheels... a little too "Energon" for me. Here's a much better version of a great character! Brakedown's an obvious homage to the G1 character Kup, in that he's a crotchety old bot who has tons of tales to tell to the younger generation. Hasbro took that character, slapped some Kup-like paint on him, and gave us this really cool, new character. The transformation is smooth and easy-- not too messy or kibbly in bot mode. His weapon is an engine block with a flip out blade, and it stores on his back when not in use (I love that feature). In vehicle mode his weapon is incorporated so loose weapon storage isn't an issue. He's a free-wheeling futuristic racer with massive rear tires much like a funny-car. Overall, Brakedown is a sweet package of a scout class figure-- an excellent Transformer package for this price point!

Despite his diminutive size, Brakedown is one of the more detailed Autobots, complete with the robo-beard that adds to his venerable status. In vehicle mode heâ?TMs a high-powered dragster, ostensibly more high-powered now since heâ?TMs decided to go the GTS route like Override. In robot mode, heâ?TMs well-proportioned and well-articulated, and his Cyber Key function enables the sword blade loaded into his engine/blaster. Interestingly, given the fact that Brakedown seems to act as a surrogate for weathered veteran Gen 1 Kup, he now has a color scheme vaguely similar to that of Kup.Brakedown is one of the oldest racers in the Speed Planet circuit. Now, apparently mostly retired, he serves as mentor to Clocker among others. Like Kup, Brakedown tries to pass along his extensive in-field experience in order to make Clocker and her peers better-balanced racers and warriors.
