(More customer reviews)Like lots of 6 year olds, my youngest has been begging for Kung Zhu pets and Hexbugs. I saw them in the store and thought, geez, these things don't actually DO anything! Isn't there something better out there? The sales guy took me over to a tiny display of Zibits, and told me they had just hit the shelves here. They seemed to have everything the others didn't have. You control them yourself with a remote control, track pieces are available so your child can expand out the buildings into unique circuits, you can play skill games between the Zibits that rely on your actual skill controlling them, there are zip lines, slides, cranes... very very cool. I bought what the store had, then ordered the rest off Amazon. The appeal is instant...cute enough that even the girls will want to play with them, but with a futuristic, high tech feel that will get even older boys hooked. My two boys, aged 6 and 12, and my 9 year old daughter can't keep their hands off these things. They've made up all kinds of games to play against each other, set up obstacle courses, and continually re-arrange the layout. Did I mention they're also inexpensive? They may just be the perfect family gift for the season. As far as how well they're built, time will tell, but my kids haven't managed to break anything yet, and that's saying something. One word of caution: the buildings and track pieces are a bit hard to find at this writing. Be sure you know what the actual retail prices are before accidentally buying items from some of the gougers out there. The Power Lab should cost around or under $30 and the other buildings and track pieces around $15. I bought Zibits robots in two-packs at Toys R Us for around $15.
