(More customer reviews)When I bought the set I was not aware of the "pop-up" functionality that it had I just wanted the set because I thought it looked really cool as it was and the possibility to use the pieces in other constructions. But after I have built the droid I feel like I don't want to disassemble it, I'm even thinking about buying another set!
Now that I have been playing around with it a few days I must say that it by far the most advanced and intricate Lego model I ever seen, it's not the amount of pieces that are fascinating, it's the construction, it makes you wonder how many sleepless nights it took for constructor of this model to finalize it.
Even though the model is complicated it's fairly easy to follow the building instructions and build the model but I can imagine some younger children might need some assistance. Since it is a construction that depends on a chain reaction that is triggered by a "push-button" it has to function correctly all the way through the course of events that it causes which means that all the parts have to work together. I had to rebuild the model once to get the right functionality and it might take some time to calibrate the construction. But I promise you it's worth it!
As many times before I'm surprised by the amount of pieces that comes in the box, when looking on the box the set doesn't seem to contain as many pieces as it actually does, for me it's a positive surprise and an other positive fact was that it contained less "special" pieces than I thought, the only pieces that was really "special" was the "toes" at the end of the legs.
I sincerely believe that this set ought to amaze anyone that is slightly interested in technical constructions and even some of those who are less interested.
