As a Gundam fanatic who picked up the addiction in the late 1990's, I've grown to expect more and more from action figure model kits created by Bandai. Due to its extremely young age, and therefore quite modern engineering, this kit is, by far, one of the best floating around out there. The keyword in this product's identity is MASTER grade. Usually abbreviated on the box as MG, the Master Grade model kits of today are molded with painstaking attention to detail, and although in their predecessors in MG kits (some 30th Anniversary kits are based on molds made in the 1990's) were still great models, they can't compete with the definition of the GN-X (also pronounced "jinks"). (The same can be said of all the ver. 2.0 model kits and most kits developed post-2005)
For those of you who don't know what Master grade really means, Bandai developed a system to grade the quality of their model kits. The grading system pertains primarily to how much detail is in the kit and also how many pieces the kit contains. The lowest of the grades is a No-Grade kit (can be 1/144 or 1/100). In No-Grade kits, the detail is very limited, usually from not having much surface area to work with. They're usually anywhere as low as $10 to $50, depending on the scale and bulk of the model. The next level up is the High Grade (HG). High grade kits have more detail, but are usually smaller kits like 1/144 scale and can be as little as $15 or as much as $35 depending on the bulk or extra frills. The next grade up is a Master grade (MG), the medium costing from $50 to $140 (the $140 being for a new kit coming out Aug. 2010 of The O from Zeta Gundam). Master Grades have considerably more detail in their pieces and paneling, and also feature special abilities of each mobile suit's design. For example, there may be a new panel on a MG that conceals a beam saber hilt, or the scope on its beam rifle can hide inside the rifle, or maybe it can actually transform without having to remove and reattach parts (like Gundam MG Zeta Gundam Ver 2.0 Scale 1/100). MG kits are all 1/100 scale. The next step up is a Perfect Grade (PG) kit. Perfect grade kits are 1/60 scale and feature the most possible detail in a gundam model kit. Because of the size and quality, PG kits are the most expensive ranging anywhere from $215 to $375 (just a guesstimate based on what I've seen). These kits have panels that open simply for the sake of appearance (as service panels for maintenance and repair) and are detailed to such extremes nowadays as to have actual lights in their heads to make their eyes glow (just like in the shows)!
There are other grades of kits outside the common ones listed above. Some are 1/200 scale, a more recent one of the original Gundam is coming out soon that's supposed to stand almost 2' tall. There are even 5' tall statues of some mobile suits floating around. There's also a Glorious Series of model kits out there of older kits (similar to PG kits)

Bandai's latest Master Grade Gundam kit is none other than the mass-production GN-X (pronounced "jinx") from Gundam 00! Parts are molded in color and the Mobile Suit will be fully articulated with a highly detailed and poseable inner mechanical frame upon completion. The GN-X features an openable cockpit and can be armed with the included GN beam rifle, GN long barrel beam rifle, GN beam saber, and GN shield. The ESF GN Drive [T] can be removed from the mecha and placed in its included stand. Accompanying the kit are in-scale unpainted exceptionally detailed pilot figures of Sergei Smirnov and Soma Peries. Foil stickers, tetron stickers, and marking decals are provided.
